Social Media Project Manager (Jr.)

Our corporate client is looking for a Social Media Project Manager on a 12+ month contract basis.

The Social Media Project Manager develops and manages communication programs, initiatives, campaigns and media channels that support Northwestern Mutual’s strategic corporate communication priorities. These activities inform, educate, and influence a range of target audiences including the company’s clients, prospects, key influencers, the field, employees and other stakeholders. Works under the guidance of and in collaboration with the functional director and/or assistant director.


 Serve as social media community manager and coordinator.

 Manage compliance in all facets of social media.

 Create social media content and coordinate publishing of content.

 Manage and maintain editorial calendar for the corporate social media platforms.

 Works with Creative Solutions on asset creation: work requests and project management

 Assists with PR on various diversity and inclusion public relations initiatives, including: national diversity conferences, multicultural marketing projects, special projects.

 Aids in maintaining vendor relationships including participation in regular conference calls and project tracker. (Sprout etc)

 Maintains reprint process for team with internal clients.

 Provide media line assistance. This includes: assisting Financial Representatives with media opportunities and/or corporate opportunities when appropriate; talking point creation and compliance approval, as well as media training when necessary.


- Bachelor’s degree in communication, journalism, public relations, marketing or social sciences.

- At least 2-5 years of experience in professional communication, public relations, organizational communication,

marketing, training or related communication field. Emphasis on specialized knowledge of public relations, media relations, social media, organizational communication, investor relations or issues management.

- Strong professional communication skills including business and communication writing, and one-to-one interpersonal relationships.

- Ability to listen to, engage, and influence clients; synthesize and relate complex information; analyze

communication problems and opportunities; and develop and implement specialized communication strategies.

- Demonstrated ability to think strategically and counsel business partners in the appropriate use of communication strategies and tactics to inform and influence target audiences. Strong organizational skills. Analytic skills a plus.

- Experience and proficiency with a range of external and internal communication solutions: face-to-face; print and electronic channels; social media applications; media relations; creative media solutions.

- Polished organizational, decision-making and problem-solving skills.
