Our client is the leader in the self-storage industry and has an immediate opening for a Social Media Manager to be based out of their corporate office in LA.

The Social Media Manager is responsible for the overall growth and strategic direction of our organization's social media presence, including but not limited to Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, G+. The position is responsible for producing content for these channels, including photos and copy, as well as for their blog. He or she will increase engagement across all platforms, manage social media advertising and proactively reach out to current and potential constituents, as well as “influencers” in social media to engage and grow our audience, increase links to our blog and improve the visibility of social channels on Google and other search engines. This position will work closely with other departments to promote their respective efforts and to ensure a consistent message across all social media outlets. This position reports into the Manager of Interactive Marketing.

Responsibilities:

Provide day-to-day management of active social media platforms, including content development. Also provide some backup spot-checking of platforms outside of standard office hours to ensure quality control, moderate conversations, and respond to customers as needed.
Manage and direct Customer Service resources tasked with responding to and handling Social Media based customer issues.
Respond to customer issues on days when the dedicated customer service agent is off.
Generate photo, caption and article content for the clients social media channels.
Write monthly press releases based on blog articles.
Analyze the performance and growth of all active social media platforms and report weekly on indicators such as engagement, links, and blog traffic.
Research and stay current with social media trends
Serve as the online brand steward for the client.
Implement proactive strategy for social listening and respond accordingly.
Responsible for other duties and projects assigned by management, as needed.


Qualifications:

At least 5 years of experience in social media strategic planning and management, utilizing Facebook, Twitter, Google+ and YouTube, etc.
Excellent writing skills and success writing for a professional publication such as a daily newspaper, magazine, large corporate blog or leading a major PR effort.
Solid grounding in grammar and style, with a willingness to break away from the rules for effect.
Familiarity with the PR process to assist with press releases as needed.
Proven ability to plan and implement social media marketing to engage and drive links and mentions of the client.
Proficient in Photoshop, to resize optimize photos for social media and to create simple graphics for social posts.
Solid understanding of best practices for taking photos for social media.
Experience making videos that drive brand engagement and understanding.
Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced, changing environment.
Proficient in Microsoft Office and all social media platforms and listening tools.
Proven ability to evaluate data, assess alternatives, and make decisions and or recommendations as required.
Must be team oriented and have excellent interpersonal and communication skills at all organizational levels.
Self-motivated, detail-oriented and highly organized.
Bachelor’s Degree in marketing, English, journalism or related degree.
Familiarity with SEO keyword research and social planning.
