Social Media & Content Manager

Vitamin T is looking for a Marketing Manager to focus on Social Media & Communications for an educational client working across multiple schools. 



  • Develop and implement social media strategies, campaigns, and ongoing content calendars that foster brand awareness and maximize engagement with our varied student populations on our social media channels including Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn Instagram, Google, and YouTube
  • Manage all steps of social content creation including planning, original writing, creative direction and development, compliance approvals and distribution
  • Manage the brand’s blogs and editorial calendars that align with social updates; create engaging written and visual content
  • Oversee social media accounts’ design (e.g. covers, profile pictures, blog layouts, etc)
  • Guide and influence company-wide social media efforts; demonstrate the ability to educate others in proper utilization of social media tools
  • Promote the visibility of social media messages and interactions within client leadership via the timely sharing of positive interactions/feedback and monthly reporting
  • Perform research on current benchmark trends and audience preferences; monitor and analyze competitive social media strategies and trends 


  • Implement the online community moderation strategy, coordinate with stakeholders across our brands to ensure its ongoing relevance and effectiveness 
  • Review and moderate all user-generated content within forums, comments, images, and videos; identify and escalate priority issues with the proper information and detail
  • Maintain consistent interaction with our community across all social media channels to ensure adherence to our Code of Conduct; manage the banned user process
  • Communicate and resolve issues with followers, respond to queries in a timely manner and monitor and respond customer reviews
  • Service Community Admin email accounts, respond to inquiries and escalate where necessary
  • Produce reports on relevant moderation statistics, issues, and outcomes



  • Execute internal communication and PR strategy in conjunction with senior manager
  • Direct public relations activities and content development including writing press releases, customer stories, and corporate feature articles, as needed
  • Refine core messaging to ensure organizational consistency in all aspects of communication including development, organizing and education as it relates to public relations materials
  • Support requests for media interviews and preparation for agency spokespersons
  • Ensure organizational initiatives are successfully communicated to employees and stakeholders
  • Plan, edit and write content for a variety of internal communications mediums, such as a staff intranet, monthly video program, holidays, etc as needed
  • Draft messages or scripts from senior executives for presentation to employees in written or spoken form
  • Ensure internal communications messages are consistent across all mediums and for different departments; ensure consistency with external communication messages
  • Handle the internal communication response to crisis situations which affect organizational perception and reputation
  • Proofread, edit and revise content as necessary
  • Manage media monitoring and daily newsfeeds

Other Duties as Assigned or Requested

  • Serve as advisor or execute social content for the universities' HR teams or for the local campuses as needed
  • Other social, content or communications projects and tasks as assigned to support university initiatives

  • Proven problem-solving skills with ability to generate creative ideas and break those solutions down into iterative improvements
  • Passion for deep storytelling, simplifying complex topics, connecting people to value, and genuine excitement for well-done social content across a variety of platforms
  • High standards for grammatical accuracy and joy for writing creatively or succinctly for mediums ranging from blog posts to press releases
  • Experience writing and editing short-form content for web and social media
  • Experience effectively coaching and supporting teammates, including content creators, designers, writers and influencers
  • A keen understanding of the benefits, nuances and best practices of different social platforms including Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, YouTube and LinkedIn with previous strategic social media experience
  • Experience in building successful digital marketing campaigns including sponsored ads on social platforms with an eye for user experience and effective communication
  • Strong understanding of social media metrics (use, targeting, analytics) and ability to identify and deliver upon clearly articulated social content metrics
  • Remain current with the latest in social media and emerging trends within the digital and social media space
  • Experience using design tools for simple social tasks (Canva, etc)
  •  Ability to travel occasionally to attend events and ground graduation(s)
  • Portfolio featuring a variety of written, visual, and/or video social content used across web channels a plus


Education and Experience: Minimum


  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Advertising or related field from an institution accredited by an agency recognized by the U.S. Department of Education (or international equivalent) required
  • Three or more years of demonstrated experience in developing and managing social media campaigns, including experience in using large platforms such as Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and Snapchat to reach and regularly interact with customers and constituents
  • One or more years of demonstrated experience in public relations, media relations, journalism, or related experience
  • 5 – 7 years of experience in a related position
