Overview

The Server Business Development Manager is responsible for driving virtualisation opportunities through the channel in addition to ensuring maximum attach of Server OS to Server units. This includes, but is not limited to, working with channel pre-sales technical teams, reviewing pipeline, identifying those opportunities which could be turned into virtualisation opportunities, product demonstrations, customer and reseller training, sales floor incentives and focus days and support for customer product evaluations.

The Server Business Development Manager will use their product knowledge to drive sales while insuring customer satisfaction through proper expectation management. The Server Business Development Manager must be a self-starter and always seek opportunities to advance the virtualisation business.

Duties and Responsibilities

The Server Business Development Manager will be responsible for the following duties. Occasionally, the Server Business Development Manager may be assigned other responsibilities at the direction of management.

 Build relationships with the pre-sale and server sales teams
 Review pipeline with sales teams and look for opportunities that could turned into virtualisation
 Maintain detailed knowledge of major competitors and baseline knowledge of all other competition
 Coach and train server sales channel on the server business
 Have a detailed understanding of the Server market conditions
 Work directly with customers in the sales and account management process
 Perform reseller and customer technical product training
 Insure customer satisfaction through proper expectation setting
 Provide problem escalation in a timely manner when required
 Provide feedback on features, issues, trends, and other product or market related concerns that affect product sales and acceptance
 Maintain/keep current all reports and paperwork

The Server Business Development Manager position requires the following prerequisite skills and experience. Additionally, the Server Business Development Manager is expected to constantly improve their skills to meet or exceed industry requirements. These skills apply to product knowledge, sales awareness, business acumen, time management, and interpersonal skills such as written and verbal communication.

 5+ years of channel sales and marketing activation or new business account management
 Good technical knowledge of Server products and market
 Good commercial knowledge of how Server deals progress
 Strong individual and group presentation skills
 Very good verbal and written communications skills
 Excellent customer management skills
 Excellent time management skills
 Self-starter - good internal motivation for self-directed time and activities
