Senior/Managing Editor

AQUENT is seeking for a Senior/Managing Editor for a 3+ month contract located in Chicago. The Senior/Managing Editor has a critical role in the Digital content marketing process for both the national and SMB sides of the business. This role is responsible for supervising and coordinating the day-to-day production and editorial quality of all content produced by a small team of content marketing specialists and designers. The Managing Editor reports to the Director of Public Relations & Content and will be assigned to daily, weekly and monthly assignments.

To succeed in this role and help further the evolution of Digital content marketing strategy, the Managing Editor must be a natural storyteller and have a knack for crafting words that provoke, challenge and surprise readers. This individual controls the quality of content, copyedit content from content marketing specialists, provide creative direction to designers and project-manage content in a timely manner. He/she must have at least 5-7 years of experience producing and editing B2B content in the digital marketing, technology and advertising industry. Most importantly, the Managing Editor maintains a very high quality and style standards, manages assignments and editorial calendars and understands how to cohesively tell the most compelling stories about our business through varying forms of content. This team member will often act as a coach, encouraging the content marketing specialists, and even designers to produce content against the schedule.

Digital Managing Editor works on:
• Bring big ideas to the table
• Detect and correct errors in spelling, punctuation and syntax
• Verify facts, dates and statistics, using standard reference sources
• Be diligent that all hyperlinked sources are accurately sourced and link back
• Search engine optimization of posts
• Prepare, rewrite and edit copy to improve readability, flow and impact on the business (and its value proposition)
• Ensure content marketing specialists stay on track with all assignments
• Ensure compliance to editorial style/guidelines, branding, and publishing requirements
• File brief stories and blog posts when necessary
• Regularly report on project status to Director of Public Relations & Content
