About the role:
The Senior XD Researcher will own the research discipline and transform the way business people create customizable apps to solve every business challenge. Our company allows work groups and small businesses to rapidly create powerful web and mobile business apps, automate processes, and improve communication and collaboration.

Our company is leading the charge to revolutionize how business manage and collaborate on their work and their data in our cloud-based collaboration work space. We use our “design for delight” principles with deep customer empathy and rapid experimentation to guide us as we design & evolve an awesome user experience.

We’re looking for just the right person to start and then expand the user research capabilities within our XD team. You’ll work with designers, product managers and developers to drive deep insights into customer and market needs. Then, you’ll collaborate closely with cross-functional teams and help execute it and bring it to life. We have big important things to do. Join us!

Responsibilities:
Champion the voice of the customer across the organization
Accelerate game-changing design by leading strategic research that provides actionable insights. Help cross-functional teams apply those insights to create amazing customer experiences
Align senior leadership and product teams around key strategic insights and opportunities
Responsible for working cross functionally with teams to shape and execute learning's plans based on business needs and growth initiatives for both existing and new offerings
Develop and use modern, agile research methodologies and insights to drive customer-centric decision making
Interpret research results, derives implications, performs market analysis and gathers strategic intelligence to provide proactive insight regarding the consumer market, trends and our customer needs, pain points and buying behaviors
Work with product managers, designers, developers and researchers to prioritize our research needs in a fast-paced environment
Manage research vendors relationship and drive execution of research initiatives
Work self-directed on complex projects driving near- and long-term direction

Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will exhibit deep customer empathy, be well versed in a number of research methodologies, be capable of creating long term research plans and protocols, involve cross-functional teams in the gathering of customer feedback, and make design recommendations that meet our high ease of use standards.

You should have an in-depth, practical knowledge of user research methodologies, Web 2.0 and mobile industry standards and trends, and design principles and best practices.

You must have a portfolio that includes examples of leading strategic research with significant business outcomes.

Bachelors’ Degree in Human-Computer Interaction, Cognitive Science, Experimental Psychology, Anthropology, Information Science, Computer Science or related field. Master’s degree preferred
At least seven years of industry experience as a hands-on researcher, working across multiple platforms, including mobile
Expertise in a broad range of methodologies including: ethnographic research, site visits, interviews, diary studies, usability testing, and long-term research plans
Masterful at uncovering insights and able to analyze and synthesize information and present the results to key stakeholders, including senior leadership
Organized, self-directed, efficient and able to manage complex projects in a timely manner
Strong leadership qualities that enable you to lead a team and third party partners when needed
Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills
Superior creativity and passion for research and design and the ability to inspire and influence others in acting upon insights
