Senior Visual Designer

Our client is looking for an experienced Sr. Visual Designer to join their Seattle office. First and foremost you’re passionate about visual design. Sure, you need to have a very good understanding of how UX design and interaction design plays a role in what you do, but you’re crazy about stuff like fonts, color theory, UI elements, the subtleties of rollover or tap states - I think we’re calling this a Visual Experience Designer (VXD) these days.

The successful candidate will be responsible for brainstorming creative concepts with the project team, developing original design concepts and style guides, executing designs based on established style guides or establishing an original approach, participating in visual design presentations to clients, developing detailed design specs for production, and overseeing junior design team members.

A strong conceptual thinker: Able to establish visual direction with or without existing style guide – especially for solutions focused on functionality and utility. A proven track record of creating strong brand experiences with a focus on visual expertise is a must. You know the design trends, when to leverage them, and when to abandon them.

Enterprise level design sensibility: Capable of translating business and customer goals on an enterprise level into beautiful, intuitive, functional results.

A great communicator: Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills and the ability to gracefully defend your design decisions to clients and executive management.

Cross platform capable: Very capable of (and experience with) designing with mobile and mobile web (responsive, adaptive) in mind – with interaction design, motion design understanding and ideas. You have a strong understanding of design best practices and HIGs.

Requirements/Qualifications:

Strong conceptual thinking
Intimate Knowledge of Photoshop and Illustrator
5+ years of visual design experience.
Strong leadership skills - ability to work with Art Directors and mentor Junior Designers
A solid understanding of designing intuitive site functionality, interaction, site architecture, user interfaces, and navigation.
Web and mobile development experience in an agency environment
Great communications skills - both with internal teams and communicating with/presenting to clients.
A great attitude – we value our creative talent tremendously and show it, but we operate a prima-donna free work zone.
