Senior Vice President, Technology

Vitamin T is assisting our North NJ client in their search for a Senior Vice President, Technology.
As the SVP Tech you will oversee the full gamut of development and technology services and the teams of which they are composed, across multiple clients and projects. You will have to ensure that your team effectively understands the needs of each project and client, understands and recommends the correct technical solution, and then executes on the actual development.

This job comes with an extremely high degree of both autonomy and responsibility. You will be able to shape your own team and, along with the COO and other directors, determine company best practices with regard to all projects. You will also be expected to effectively communicate, organize, and delegate as is appropriate for your position. You will also be expected to roll your sleeves up and contribute to the development code, as needed—this is not an 'ivory tower' kind of position.

Responsibilities
* Work with constituents to define, codify, and enforce development and technology standards & best practices
* Conduct code reviews to ensure well-structured, extensible, fully-validated, performance-optimized code
* Manage and optimize release management process
* Lead productive development team status meetings
* Continually assess and provide situational recommendations to business owners
* Lead technical discovery efforts and facilitate dialog, investigation, and exploration with our clientele
* Provide ad hoc consultation and insights to internal and external stakeholders
* Research new libraries & 3rd party APIs, and build reusable components that can be leveraged across projects
* Institute formal hiring, onboarding, training, and career development methods
* Assemble and maintain technical process documentation
* Compose technical specifications for projects as necessary
* Identify new vendors and contingency plans for resource allocations
* Review and provide input into project plans and functional specifications
* Manage and optimize the company's information systems
* Ensure application and data security
* Contribute to ongoing business continuity planning and risk/threat evaluation with the COO

Requirements
* 10+ years of professional software development experience - PHP/MySQL a must
* Strong Computer Science fundamentals in data structures, algorithms, and complexity analysis
* Experience leading technology teams to take projects from concept to completion
* Strong lead with hands on experience building/deploying Web Services and APIs
* Must demonstrate complete understanding of MVC frameworks (Model/View/Controller)
* Strong understanding and experience with data manipulation technologies such as web services, REST, JSON, SOAP, and/or XML
* Basic familiarity with UI architecture and presentation layer technologies such as jQuery, CSS3, HTML5
* Deep understanding of current software frameworks that are used within the department
* Familiarity with project management and production methodologies (Waterfall & Agile)
* Intimate knowledge of full SDLC (Software Development Lifecycle)
* Knowledge of Quality Control and Quality Assurance procedures, practices, and tools.
* Experience using Git, SVN, and/or Mercurial
* Self-directed and capable of working effectively in a dynamic environment
* Comfortable communicating directly with client(s)
* Independently keeps abreast of new developments in technology, especially mobile
* Experience creating REST-based web-services
* Experience with a Digital or Creative Agency
* Experience managing a team of 5+ developers on a longer-term basis
* Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science or related field
