Senior User Experience Researcher

Aquent's electronic client is seeking a Senior User Experience Researcher to lead and perform research that helps teams understand user needs and answer those needs famously well. You will apply your unique skills and knowledge to drive measurable user experience improvements in company products and brand touch points. You’ll work on a team of creative and smart people and will operate with various groups in the organization such as Industrial Design, Product Management, Marketing, and Branding.

Specific responsibilities include:
• Stay abreast of product roadmaps and ensure that projects have an appropriate research component to ensure their success.
• Encourage cross-functional participation in direct research resulting in team members applying first-hand observations to their various disciplines (industrial design, package design, marketing messaging, etc).
• Share research results at all levels of the company to influence thought, evangelize the benefits of good research and foster a user-centric culture and user-centric decision-making.
• Measure, advance, and enhance the value of user research within client.
• Envision and create research deliverables that inspire product teams and result in user-centric decision making.
• Select and apply a broad range of research methods to inform the design of client products and brand touch points
• Work with related personnel such as user experience designers, industrial designers, and graphic designers to create great product experiences.
• Manage your own projects like an internal consultant: on-time, on-budget, no surprises.
• Help client to further integrate user-centered design methods.
• Help select incoming UX personnel.
• Help develop junior UX personnel.
• Supervise outside vendors if needed for your projects.
• Fulfill responsibilities under ISO 9001 and 14001; understand and fully support IS0 system.
• Fulfill responsibilities under OHSAS 18001, understand and fully support OHSAS 18001 system.
• Maintain a safe and clean work environment.
• Understand and follow company rules and regulations.
• Perform all other duties as assigned and required.

Education and Experience Requirements:
• Preferred Master’s degree in Psychology, HCI, Human Factors, Anthropology, etc. Bachelor’s degree is acceptable.
• Preferred 5 - 7 years experience conducting lab and field-based user research resulting in measurable user experience improvements.
• Demonstrated effectiveness in influencing good design outcomes in a variety of contexts.
• Strong experimental design and moderation skills.
• Sound knowledge of applied statistics and qualitative analysis.
• Strong analytical skills with deep attention to detail and the demonstrated ability to convey the significance of research findings to multiple audiences.
• Experience participating in design reviews and design workshops.
• Research documentation including screeners, usability reports, personas, contextual field study reports and presentation of quantitative data.
• Mastery of a wide range of research methods and experience applying them in a variety of contexts.
• Experience operating within product development processes, especially in consumer electronics, mobile, packaged software, or complex systems.
• Mastery of at least one research application and one data analysis application.
• Interaction design experience is a definite plus.
