Senior User Experience Researcher

We are an applied research firm located in Northern Virginia. We are seeking an experienced, intelligent, and motivated user experience researcher to join our Applied Cognition Division to support and expand our human factors and user experience capabilities across private and public sector clients. This individual’s primary responsibility will be to provide subject matter expertise and conduct qualitative and quantitative research efforts aimed at modeling complex human decision processes for the optimization of websites, apps, surveys, and forms across digital and paper interfaces.

Responsibilities include:

Lead the design and development of both large and small scale UX research studies. Execute diverse research methods (moderated and unmoderated usability and cognitive tests, in-depth interviews, heuristic evaluations, focus groups, and other UX-related methods), and interpret research findings. Lead the analysis and interpretation of behavioral, cognitive, and physiological data. Directly interface with clients to understand their needs, manage their expectations, respond to requests, and communicate in a clear and concise manner.

Prepare written reports and deliver professional briefings that summarize research findings. Work closely with cross-functional teams to identify and prioritize research questions based on analysis of current knowledge, technical and business requirements, project goals and risks. Advocate for the implementation of UX research with both new and existing clients.

Required Qualifications:

Masters (PhD preferred) in Human-Computer Interaction, Information Science, Design Science, Psychology, Statistics or related field.

At least six years of applied professional UX research experience.

Willingness and ability to learn new research methods and analyses.

Demonstration of strong verbal and written communications skills.

Applicants will be subject to a low-level government security investigation and must meet eligibility criteria for access to sensitive information.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience with at least one statistical analysis software package (SPSS and STATA preferred).

Experience with remote usability testing tools (i.e., UserZoom, UserTesting, Validately, Webex, Loop11, or others).

Experience with physiological measurement techniques such as eye tracking, pupillometry, EDA, etc

Experience working with government agencies.
