What kind of designer are you? Are you an IA? Visual? Interaction? If you said ‘all’ then keep reading…

We use Design Thinking (popularized by the Stanford to get to the heart of what we build. We use a Lean Start-up methodology of ‘Build – Measure – Learn’ once we think we have some customer love. The Labs Designer is a vital part of this process.

In our Labs, we get to play with crazy cool brand new tech like Apple Watch and Oculus Rift, if that appeals to you.

We work in highly collaborative, cross-functional teams, so you will have to be here, in our Durham office, everyday.

You must be…
• Customer centered
• Highly collaborative and inclusive
• The visual voice
• The creator of sketches and scrappy prototypes as well as polished visual design comps
• Able to take criticism, iterate quickly and reject perfection
• Strategic and have opinions
• A good listener

You must have…
• 3-7 years as a professional designer
• Some samples of your work we can see
• The need to continuously learn
• The ability to work as part of a highly collaborative team
• A sense of humor
• A bit of a risk taker in you
• A bias towards action
• The ability to thrive in moments of chaos and ambiguity
• The confidence to talk to customers and show them things are not ready for primetime

It would be great if you know…
• Lightweight wireframing tools like Balsamiq or something similar. Sharpies and Paper work well too
• Sketch, InVision, Photoshop & Illustrator (or similar)
• Some familiarity with using a mix of technologies such as CSS, HTML, JavaScript a big plus
• Familiarity with WordPress, Webflow, ZURB Foundation or Twitter Bootstrap a really big plus
• Experience working in Agile (SCRUM/Kanban) a plus
• Design Thinking (Stanford d.School) a really huge plus
• Lean UX or Lean Start-up methods the hugest plus
