Senior UX Designer

The contractor will have to prioritize daily. There is lots of work to be done for this team. They will need to be a self starter and own the UX work for the team (they will have help but they will need to own the work). Projects/assignments will come through the manager. The contractor will own up to 3 areas of the team, which could include a global store in Japan, total landed costs on the export side, etc.

This Global team is seeking an experienced fast-moving user experience designer to help define new online shopping features for the company's Global Stores in multiple countries around the world. Working in close collaboration with a design lead, product management, technology, business teams and designers across international locales, the designer will be relied upon to create elegant and customer-focused designs for a world-class retail and discovery experience.

As a UX Designer on this Global team you should be at ease creating scenarios, sketches, story boards, wire-frames, mock-ups and prototypes. The ideal candidate for this position will be at ease visualizing an experience in the abstract, breaking down complex use-cases and then being able to drive the vision into solid design deliverables. You think first from the customer’s perspective, set relentlessly high standards for yourself and deliver best-in-class customer experiences. You thrive in a fast-paced, agile environment and embrace the idea that failure is a critical part of innovation.

Just as important as the UX skills mentioned above is the ability to communicate clearly with team mates, product owners and senior leadership. You need to be unfazed by changing priorities and be able to speak in the terms your intended audience understands.

Responsibilities:
Create user-centered designs by considering market analysis, customer feedback, site metrics, usability findings, and following the user-centered design process
Use business requirements and market research to develop scenarios, use cases, and high-level requirements
Design the UI architecture, interface, and interaction flow of applications and experiences
Develop conceptual diagrams, wireframes, detailed visual mockups, click-throughs, and prototypes
Develop and maintain detailed user-interface specifications and design patterns
Present design work to the user experience team, product team, and Amazon executives for review and feedback
Work closely with cross-functional teams and collaborate with designers to achieve holistic objectives.
Responsibly and effectively advocate for the customer in a corporate environment; fostering a shared understanding of the customer-centric intersection between design, content, business and marketing values.
Scope design initiatives and own track work queue

5 to 8 years of experience as a user experience designer, interaction designer, information architect, or similar role

Experience working in a collaborative team and working directly with developers for implementation of designs
Ability to work gracefully, multi-task and have a bias for action in a fast-paced, often ambiguous environment

Fluency in best practices for web-based information architecture and design, as well as strong knowledge of usability principles and techniques

Bachelor's degree in design, human-computer interaction (HCI), or equivalent professional experience
Proficiency in a variety of design tools such as Photoshop, Illustrator, Fireworks, Visio, or equivalent
