Vitamin T is working on an exciting position with one of Seattle's most prestigious design consulting firms. Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams of researchers, designers, and engineers to conduct rigorous user-centered research (with prototypes) and analysis that answers human factors engineering and experiential design questions applied to passenger experience.
The Research Contractor is responsible for planning (in collaboration with design teams) and executing primary and secondary user-centered research to suggest solutions for design questions, applied to the passenger and crew experiences for aircraft interiors and information systems. Potential to the position to
transition from contract to to a regular full-time position.
Use a variety of qualitative and quantitative methods (e.g. in-person interviews, remote surveys, creative experimental research protocols) with prototypes to collect precise data, and analyze results to recommend actionable insights.
Practice excellent written and verbal communication skills to clearly write descriptive reports, visualize data, and present research findings to project teams.

Comfortable with research processes:
- Designing research protocols with exploratory concepts and specific parameters.
- Recruiting, scheduling, and briefing research participants.
- Setting up research data capture mechanisms with physical prototypes.
- Collecting specific and precise information from interactions with people and prototypes.
- Analyzing data and translating meaning to the design challenge.
- Writing complete descriptions of findings.
- Creating clean visuals for presentations.
- Communicating actionable recommendations clearly and concisely.
Comfortable working independently on tasks and summarizing daily progress.
Strong organizational skills and methodical approach to research.
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite: Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Working knowledge of InDesign, video editing and 3D modeling are an advantage.
Knowledge of statistical programs (e.g. SPSS) and human factors ergonomics preferred, 3d modeling a plus.
Experience with user interface design for information systems preferred.
EDUCATION/ EXPERIENCE Bachelor’s Degree in Human Factors, Psychology, User Experience Research, Social Sciences or equivalent field. Graduate degree preferred.
