Senior Public Relations Manager

Our higher education client is seeking an experienced hands-on and strategic Senior Public Relations Manager. This position is responsible for non-curricular content and messaging including the management of staff in the areas of internal communications, social media, public relations, and other marketing support services as appropriate. The Senior Public Relations Manager plays a significant role in the development, direction, and maintenance of the institution’s brand with focus on building awareness and reputation among future and current stakeholders.

Additionally, the Senior Public Relations Manager serves as the department’s liaison with outside media, community members, associations, and private and public organizations aligned with the company’s mission. This position is based in Greenwood Village, CO and requires in-office presence. This position reports to the Associate Director of Marketing.


Responsibilities
• Oversee all internal and external written communications to ensure accuracy and consistency of messaging
• Drive operations of marketing communications objectives within the institution’s overall strategic plan
• Direct and cultivate public and media relations for expanded presence
• Build relationships with community members and organizations aligned with the mission, in order to establish partnerships and corresponding publishing opportunities
• Build new and support ongoing relationships with media so as to respond to inquiries and actively pitch activities that promote its mission and work
• Maintain key sections of the content calendar and integrated messaging across multiple platforms including the university blog, news, email, public relations, and social media.
• Research opportunities for speaking engagements and venues to network as a representative of the institution
• Identify opportunities for inclusion and contributions by the insitution as an industry thought leader within external publications and websites
• Oversee communication efforts with alumni, partner organizations, and other institutions (newsletters, PR, webpages, etc.)
• Build and maintain effective dashboards and reporting metrics to achieve set metrics for impressions and awareness
• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in English, Communications, Journalism or equivalent required; Master’s degree preferred
• Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communications as well as proven time management skills
• Proven ability to manage 3-6 direct reports and oversee priorities
• Demonstrated ability to create, develop and implement innovative concepts, activities, and projects
• Research and editing skills to ensure all materials are high quality, accurate, and consistent with university brand.
• Highly proficient in various publication software with ability to learn new technical systems quickly and efficiently
• 10 years of experience in communications, public relations, crisis management, and social media
• Demonstrated ability to effectively work in a fast-paced, dynamic, multitasking environment
• Demonstrated ability of business fundamentals: computer applications, communications, teamwork, and leadership

Assessment
• Candidates are asked to submit various writing samples; press releases, blog posts, case studies, etc.
• During the interview process, candidates will be given a university initiative or event, as a test scenario, and will be asked to present a detailed strategy on how they would execute or respond to the event. That presentation should cover priorities, goals, metrics, tactics, and other ideas central to the initiative’s success.
