Senior Product Designer

One of Melbourne's most innovative and creative workplaces has gone from strength to strength over recent years and as such they have been growing their product design capability. They are now looking for a Senior Product Designer to be an integral part in the delivery of high profile projects whilst reporting directly into the Head of UX and Design.

As a Senior Product Designer your role is to envision, design, and bring to life delightful experiences for users. A strong collaborative working style is a must with a bias towards rapid prototyping, experimentation and a strong curiosity for customers and their needs are of paramount importance to this business. To be successful in this position you will have a passion about solving user experience challenges with simple empathetic solutions drawn from extensive experience in a combination of quantitative and qualitative user experience research.

The Senior Product Designer will work with a breadth of skill sets within the team and will be prepared to use their full range of product design skills, including visual, interaction, research, analysis and prototyping.

Day to day you will be:

Actively contributing to product strategy.
Work collaboratively in the discovery and execution of opportunities.
Lead the user research initiatives within your team, designing tests, running sessions and conducting user interviews.
Be the User voice within your Product Team, bringing user insights, problems and opportunities to the fore of the development process.
Address and unearth user problems by creating designs, flows, wireframes and prototypes and putting them in front of users.
Own the design within your development team through implementation and ensure a consistent approach and high quality design execution.
Communicate design intent to both internal and external teams.
Work with the team to grow concepts through design exploration, ideation and user validation
To be successful in this role you will have:

Minimum of 5 years experience designing for product, design, or creative project teams.
Insightful design thinking, including visual information architecture, experience flows, wireframing and prototyping
Solid understanding of technical requirements and limitations of web platforms. Deep knowledge of modern web UX patterns
Experience designing for a wide device and platform spectrum.
HTML and CSS skills would be beneficial
Nice to have managed a product or design team.
Designed interaction models, wireframes and mid-fidelity mockups that promote ease of use and optimize how customers interact with our products
Analyze tasks, model information, navigation and flows using UX best practices for web and mobile
Ability to defend design decisions and incorporate feedback into the design cycle
