Senior Instructional Designer

Aquent’s electronic client is seeking a Senior Instructional Designer for on-going project work.

Assess the training needs of managerial, professional, sales, and technical personnel for the purpose of developing and implementing customized, objective-based instructional and educational programs that include, but are not limited to, computer-based training, video-based training, self-study training, and simulation training that assist employees in meeting the company's goals and objectives.

Essential Responsibilities
Assess the training needs of and collaborate with Service, Sales, Marketing, Human Resources staff and the instructors and the students at the Training Academy so as to develop and/or recommend enhancements to course content and methods of course delivery and technologies, and to develop objective-based educational programs that meet the needs instructors and their students.

Evaluate the current effectiveness of training through measurement and assessment feedback and ways to measure return on investment for the purpose of developing and implementing a strategic plan for training.

Serve in a consultative and project leader to instructors, Training Manager, contacts from other company divisions and external customers to recommend improvements, revisions, enhancement to course content, methods of course delivery and technologies.

Consult with multimedia department to develop and oversee state-of-the-art computer-based and video-based training programs. Evaluate new training curriculum developed by instructors and other business units within.

Provide "train-the-trainer" consultations, i.e. needs assessment, adult learning theory principles, evaluation methodologies to instructors and outside customers.

Work with representatives and subject matter experts (SMEs) of other departments/divisions to assess needs and develop training programs.

Stay abreast of new training technologies by attending seminars and workshops to gain best practices and consult with instructors and Training Manager on new training technologies learned.

Work on special projects and perform all other duties as assigned.

Personal contacts are routine with several sections, departments or divisions or require close collaboration with other members of the same section, department, or division.

Plan own workload.

Generally managed; activities are governed by general department and/or company rules and procedures or schedules and are sometimes monitored; moderate flexibility to determine method; high flexibility to determine scheduling.

Perform specialized consultative or technical work under general guidelines. Work is often analytical, conceptual and involved, requiring judgment where policies and methods are not well established. Position duties involve making constant decisions and implementing authorized courses of action. Errors do not result in overall embarrassment to the company or in monetary losses but (may) waste supplies and require expenditure of time to track and correct.

Expertise with Adobe Suite and Captivate.
Bachelor's in Education, Training, instructional Design or Business Administration.
Two years experience CBT development and project management.
Five years experience or equivalent level of knowledge in education, training, curriculum assessment, design and measurement using adult learning theory.
Good stand-up delivery/presentation skills.
Good people/communication/consultative skills.
