Senior Instructional Design Consultant

Our client, a leader in the financial services industry, is looking for a Sr. Instructional Designer to work “behind the scenes” using Power Point, Captivate, Articulate Storyline software to develop and create e-learning materials for sales/sales management training programs.

Primary responsibilities/essential functions:
Instructional Design and development
• Designs and develops training for variety of sales roles
o Designs and develops using a variety of modalities (e.g., instructor led classroom and webinar, small group activities, self paced e-learning, self paced programs, etc.) depending on needs of business units.
o Creates design outlines and story boards.
o Create course materials (e.g., student guides, facilitator guides, media, reference materials) to meet learning objectives.
o Develops e-learning, blended learning and webinar activities.
• Evaluates effectiveness of training
o Designs and develops evaluation methods and tools to determine effectiveness of training.
o Analyzes evaluation data, and communicates results and recommended changes to business units..

Other
• Identifies areas for improvement within the training department (e.g., process and technology), makes recommendations, and implements solutions.
• Performs additional responsibilities as assigned.

Skills/qualifications:
• Demonstrates effective written and oral communication with a diverse group of associates and senior business leaders.
• Demonstrates working knowledge of instructional design skills (analysis, design, development, implementation, evaluation) and ability to apply it to work assignments.
• Demonstrates working knowledge of e-learning development software (e.g., Captivate, Articulate Storyline) and ability to apply it to work assignments
• Demonstrates working knowledge of virtual training methodologies and technology (e.g., WebEx).
• Demonstrates basic working knowledge of project management and ability to apply it to work assignments.
• Demonstrates initiative by identifying issues, recommending and implementing solutions.
• Demonstrates ability to collaborate and work effectively as part of a team.
• Demonstrates ability to prioritize work and complete in a timely manner.
• Demonstrates sound judgment in independently resolving matters of moderate complexity.
• Demonstrates effective and professional service orientation and builds appropriate rapport with internal and external contacts.
• Demonstrates working knowledge of multiple American Funds business units and ability to apply it to work assignments.

Education and Experience
Bachelor’s Degree in Education, Instructional Design, or related subject.
Minimum of three years of instructional design and development experience with emphasis on e-learning and instructor-led training materials
