Senior Information Architect

We’re working with a global IT consulting client to find a Senior Information Architect to join their User Experience team! This is a hands-on, client-facing role working with a key client on high-visibility projects.

Start Date: As soon as possible
Location: Onsite in Fairfax, VA with one day per week in Alexandria, VA. (Ability to work one day per week from home)
Duration: Ongoing
Hours: 40 per week
Type: Contract; W2 through Aquent

• Responsible for research and design efforts for web based information architecture and interaction design.
• Under the direction of the Director of User Experience, the IA will work with team members and client stakeholders to develop strategies and specifications to improve the performance, usability and effectiveness of user interfaces.
• Using a User Centered Design approach, the IA will synthesize information gathered from client meetings, team collaboration, best practices, heuristic analysis and competitive analyses to develop site maps and user interface diagrams to illustrate the layout, flow and organization of websites and web enabled applications.
• Facilitate Usability Testing and help determine how best to integrate these findings into the site architecture and the user interface.

• Information architecture and usability analysis experience designing user interfaces for web based applications.
• Expert knowledge of Axure (or other prototyping tool). Must be able to create interactive, clickable prototypes.
• Ability to partner with stakeholders to gather functional requirements based on existing business processes, goals and user needs.
• Experience with user story grooming.
• Strong working knowledge of user experience deliverables including strategy an analysis documents, prototypes and UI specifications.
• Hands on design of navigation, interaction, nomenclature systems and UI diagrams including flows, wireframes and sitemaps.
• Experience with usability testing including writing screeners and scripts, running focus groups, facilitating card sorting, survey and remote session testing.
• Expert knowledge of usability best practices and accessibility issues, including 508 compliance and ARIA.
• Understanding of frontend technologies including CSS3, HTML5, jQuery UI, and other evolving interface standards to assist in design. (Coding experience not required).
• Understanding of Responsive Design and supporting frameworks such as BootStrap.
• Experience with large scale custom applications and CMS (Content Management Systems) projects.
• Bachelor’s degree.
