A world-wide tech leader is looking for a senior user experience architect (information architect) to consult with its Internet Marketing team in Dallas, Texas. The consultant will guide the user experience for online and offline browser-based applications through the various stages of development, including user interface strategy, requirements gathering, user research, site map creation, wireframing, usability testing and final quality assurance.

As a user experience architect, the consultant needs to possess extensive knowledge and experience in solving user-centered design problems along with managing business expectations, back-end technology, project timelines and delivery dates.

Effective personal skills (i.e. flexibility in a fast-pace, deadline-driven, mission-critical environment) and ability to act diplomatically when encountering user experience issues is a required skill. Someone who has the guts to ask appropriate questions and can communicate effectively while persuasively conveying design solutions to a broad range of stakeholders: product managers, engineers, customers, etc. The consultant will be guiding the user experience for multiple projects concurrently while often being the sole user experience architect on the project.

Core deliverables are simple: to create information architecture and guide the user interface design for our Client’s international as well as domestic (North American) websites.


By creating user personae, site maps, storyboards, page schematics/wireframes, content inventories, application prototypes, navigation labels and web-friendly error and help messaging. You will focus on online and offline browser-based applications and work closely with a team of User Interface Designers (Visual Designers), Business Analysts, Code Developers, Project Managers and Business Representatives to develop the strategy and user interface experience for a wide variety of projects.

You must be a consultant who is capable of managing user research deliverables including user personae creation, contextual interviews, usability testing and usability recommendations. A natural born leader who can conduct the user interface portion of project team meetings and collaborate with the User Interface Designer to deliver the visual design for projects. We don’t need you to create the visual design, we need you to be the producer, the influencer, who manages the delivery of the visual design and provides any assistance necessary to the User Interface Designer.

• Minimum 3 years experience in information architecture for the World Wide Web
• Experience facilitating user research, including user interviews and usability testing
• Solid writing and presentation skills
• A well-rounded portfolio of page schematics/wireframes, site maps, content inventories, and various navigation systems. The more your portfolio can show a project from concept to completion, the more we can accurately identify your UX thought process and skills.
• Ability to communicate business strategy and branding issues, and to balance these with user goals, technology limits and budgetary boundaries
• Ability to manage multiple projects and clients simultaneously, as well as communicate persuasively and resolve issues effectively
• Knowledge of technical issues involved with web development and ability to work with Code Developers and groups of engineers
• Ability to keep a positive attitude and handle change
• Ability to work independently, prioritize, and find solutions to problems
• Attention to detail

Optional Requirements
• Training in writing for the web
• Background in graphic design
• Experience in brand strategy, advertising, marketing or online communities
• Familiarity with industrial design, engineering or environmental (way-finding) design
