Senior Email Developer

The candidate will be responsible for execution of email campaigns, utilizing best in class ESP platforms and practices necessary for effective messaging. The position requires cross-functional partnerships, the ability to appropriately manage competing priorities amongst key stakeholders, and a relentless commitment to an exceptional customer experience in the digital space. The Sr. Email Developer would partner with Clients, Intra company team members, Vendors and Business stakeholders in ensuring all the campaigns are executed in a timely manner. It requires identifying development opportunities and ability to seek best solutions and channel best practices. This candidate will be a subject matter expert for E-mail, SMS and mobile messaging experience.

Job Responsibilities and Requirements include:

• Assist in developing direction, strategy and tactics for email marketing programs

• Excellent project management, time management, prioritization and problem solving skills

• Very high attention to detail

• Ensure that all stakeholders are kept fully informed of relevant campaign status, issues and progress

• Proofread emails for clarity, grammar, and spelling

• Thoroughly test emails for compatibility with browsers and email clients; ensuring all links, images, subject lines and list segments are accurate and working properly

• Ensure compliance with CAN-SPAM regulations

• Drive and optimize key traffic and revenue metrics including CTR, open rates, incremental revenue lift, engagement and retention

• Troubleshoots technical issues related to HTML templates, list segmentation and other aspects of email execution, as required

• Maintain and ensure high levels of data hygiene and integrity with fast-growing, high-volume lists

• Pull reports and perform ad hoc campaign analysis as requested by stakeholders

• Proactively track, monitor, analyze and optimize campaign performance

• Manage the end-to-end email execution process from email campaign set-up, testing, QA, live previews and deployment.

• Review email calendar with Production Manager, including deliverables, timelines and responsibilities using project management tools such as Microsoft Sharepoint, At Task, etc.

• Partner effectively with cross-functional teams to drive successful campaign execution.

• Customer Segmentation using ESP filtering and basic knowledge of SQL querying.

• Create Email Programs - one-off or automated sends as well as triggered emails using tools in various ESP providers.

• Ensure emails are not getting filtered/getting delivered to the inbox by tracking deliverability metrics.

• Track email performance including opens, clicks and bounces and summarize results on a segment level when needed

Minimum Qualifications and Job Requirements | All must be met to be considered


Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology or related field, or equivalent training and/or experience.


5+ years experience building, scheduling, and testing email campaign

Relevant experience in either a client or agency database marketing program.

Specific Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Thorough understanding of HTML/CSS, mobile responsive design

Hands on experience with an enterprise level email delivery systems such as ExactTarget, Experian, Marketo, Responsys and SilverPop

Competency in Adobe Creative Suite

Competency in Microsoft Office

Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects under tight deadlines.

Familiarity with email lifecycle campaigns

Knowledge of best practices for email marketing, including email creative, segmentation, dynamic content, testing methodologies, deliverability, list growth, etc.

Hands-on experience in day-to-day email execution from conception to execution.

Experience working with web analytics tools such as Google Analytics, Omniture
