Senior Digital Visual Designer/Art Director

Designer with Information Architecture background is preferred. Mobile experience preferred.

This contract engagement is expected to run a minimum of 3 months. The work is to be done on-site M-F during normal business hours.

Key Responsibilities

As a Studio Designer UX, your key responsibilities will encompass experience design of web sites, mobile applications, and set-top box user interfaces, establishing and/or evolving UX guides, establishing and/or evolving UX libraries, production graphics and designing signage/branded templates with an expert understanding of user experience best practices.

You will showcase your perfectionist and detail-oriented abilities by adhering to established UX frameworks and/or creating guidelines and foundations that will influence allteam members, as well as teams outside of the department.

The UX Studio Designer produces visual design UX solutions to fulfill existing concepts to create experiences that provide effortless choice and control for customers. In addition, the Studio Designer will design original Web pages and application screens, document interaction systems in UX guides and libraries, collaborate on solutions with directors, art directors, designers, architects and other UX specialists for all products and features, and is an integral member of the UX team’s creative process in delivering world class customer experiences.

Job Duties

• Take existing work (experience designs, UX guides, Information Architecture, visual designs) and rapidly drive progress until project completion.
• Collaborate with and participate in ideation and concept explorations with the UX team throughout any project lifecycle.
• Provide strong UX visual design, and support, helping define project approach to accommodate constraints while delivering the best user experience.
• Deliver production-ready UX visual designs in alignment with overarching business and user experience goals.
• Articulate and track project milestones, deliverables and risks with the UX team, in addition to communicating progress, near term tasks/deliverables, issues and accomplishments.
• Serve as a liaison between the UX team members, identifying and participating in UX specific project visual designs. This includes concept sketches, rough wire frames or flows, visual design comps (including production-ready), rapid prototyping/demos, presentations, logos, icons, mood boards and assists in the creation of associated mitigation plans.
• Prepare and deliver UX presentations and road-shows representing the user experience organization with in-depth knowledge of why design and information architecture choices are being made.
• Contribute to the growing library of knowledge around User-Centered Design both through the products developed and best practice research.
• Contribute to the evolution of the UX guides and/or other guides as assigned.
• Contribute to the evolution of the UX libraries and/or other libraries as assigned.
• Responsible for the creation of signage and/or branded templates to be used by the UX or CIM teams.
• Assist with internal and external vendor communication directly related to UX studio visual design support.
• Participate in external vendor communication directly related to UX visual design support.


• Minimum involvement of 3 years designing Internet, mobile or equivalent interactive experiences with a strong ability to successfully organize, prioritize and manage multiple projects in a deadline-driven environment.
• Bachelors Degree in Design, Computer Science, Human Factors or equivalent work experience with any combination of strong Visual Design, Writing, Information Architecture, Presentation and Collaboration skills.
• Critical thinking and creative problem-solving for interactive experiences
• Expertise applying interaction systems to create screens or pages that expand on an existing application or website design
• Understanding of interaction design principles including User-Centered Design, information architecture basics
• Ability to operate independently, but able to ask for advice when facing a challenge
• Strong brainstorming and collaboration skills with strong user experience orientation and exceptional people skills.
• Must have strong understanding of the most recent version of Photoshop, Illustrator and Fireworks. Knowledge of CSS, Omnigraffle, Visio, Dreamweaver, GoLive, After Effects, 3d Software, iWorks and Microsoft Office are a plus.
• Proficient with diverse writing, presentation, project management software.
• Must be comfortable working with established UX guides and/or the ability to assist in their continued evolution.
• Experience designing robust Flash and HTML web sites and/or mobile with highly intuitive or deep User Interfaces and navigation schemes.
• Excellent visual design skills (including, but not limited to: ability to solve problems visually, create visual hierarchy, demonstrating superior aesthetic sense) and strong understanding of typography, illustration, color theory, wire framing, and photo manipulation.
• Must have strong verbal communication skills, including the ability to speak effectively before staff or other internal groups.
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively across organizational boundaries with the ability to prioritize and execute.
• Expresses a passion and desire to innovate and push boundaries.
• Experience designing and developing products to large consumer base.
• Experience in an agency environment executing UX a plus. Track record of product development-oriented projects preferable.
• Experience with internal/external teams and/or partner relationships and resources.
• A strong portfolio of solid web, mobile and multi-media are required. Broadcast, print, identity, packaging, storyboard sketches are a plus
