Senior Digital Designer/AD

This Designer works along side the Senior Web Design Manager to establish on-brand solutions for digital marketing communications. The solutions developed by the Senior Web Designer should visually express the tone of the brand and specific business and usability needs as defined by the Digital Design Director, creative/project briefs and brand/visual style guide standards. In addition, the Senior Web Designer should collaborate with User Experience team to design and implement changes, functionality and enhancements; Fashion Editors to contribute to editorial direction of projects; Copy to coordinate promotional messages across all assets and anyone else who is involved in the development of a project.

Meeting Commitment: 40%

Primary Goals
Creative Responsibilities/Objectives - 60% of time
• Explore trends and competitive landscape and incorporate appropriate use of color, type, tone and editorial style in
digital design standards
• Assist in defining and communicating brand/visual style guidelines and standards across all channels
• Participate and contribute to productive brainstorming sessions that result in concrete ideas for execution
• Identify and understand unique character, challenges, opportunities and visual expression for different categories of business
• Develop subject matter expertise and champion unique character of specific customer/merchandise areas
• Collaborate with all applicable teams to create and produce compelling digital solutions across all channels

Team Responsibilities/Objectives - 20% of time
• Support corporate culture, values and mission
• Contribute to environment that is efficient, professional, innovative, and team oriented
• Communicate and respond to team members in a professional manner and contribute to environment that is efficient, proactive, and team oriented
• Share expertise and inspiration with internal teams

Process Responsibilities/Objectives - 15% of time
• Utilize workflow process and technology to ensure quality delivery of work product on an ongoing basis
• Communicate obstacles and improvement opportunities within workflow processes to the (Sr.) Web Design Manager
• Prioritize tasks to meet deadlines
• Perform quality-assurance procedures on all weekly deliverables as defined by workflow process
• Ensure all electronic files are built responsibly (smallest size, proper naming conventions, error free), and achieve error-free work
• Work with Creative Manager to trouble shoot project issues and resolve conflicts as required


Secondary Goals

Business Partner Management Responsibilities/Objectives - 5% of time
• Communicate and respond to business partners in a professional manner
• Collaborate with marketing, merchandising and buying teams to leverage opportunities and attributes of different customer segments and product groups
• Consult with business partners and marketing/merchandise teams on creative options Troubleshoot business partner relationship issues and resolve conflicts as required; gather facts, assess options and determine appropriate resolution to achieve high-level of business partner satisfaction

Performance Measures/Outcomes (example: key metrics, turnover, retention stats, etc.)
• Achieves project deadlines as evaluated on a quarterly and yearly basis
• Reduces cycle time by ensuring delivery of any necessary design specification documentation, files and user assets to development team that are on brand and ensures flawless integration with back-end technology

Skills
Knowledge – level of education required, special certifications or licenses
• Bachelor of Fine Arts degree required with emphasis on interactive design, graphic design or communications
• Master’s degree a plus
Skills – job specific knowledge and abilities, general business acumen, other required skills
• Strong communication and people skills – able to lead and manage both business partners and creative resources
• Strong project and time-management skills – able to balance and prioritize team workload and adjust to shifting business needs/priorities
• Excellent design sense and ability to articulate design strategy to business partners and design team
• Editorial fashion magazine design background with experience in layout, typography and story telling

Experience – level or related/unrelated work experience, number of years in prior jobs
• 5+ years of web design experience in:
− Developing digital strategies, concepts, templates and brand guidelines
− Collaborating with design and editorial teams
− Communicating with business partners and vendors
− Design and coding/development processes and standard cycle-times for interactive communications
• International experience managing and partnering with cross-functional teams and teams that include internal and external resources

Competencies – technical or other skills such as position specific software, financial skills, leadership, team building, training
• Superior knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite
• Understanding of components, cycle times, production and distribution requirements of digital creative deliverables
• Comprehension of French Language
