Senior Designer

We are looking for a Senior Designer for a 6 month contract that sits in Seattle. This individual must have strong team leadership/project management skills and be versed in both print and interactive design. This individual will be responsible for conceptualizing ideas, and developing those ideas into print and electronic deliverable. The senior designer must maintain and apply advanced design skills, offer multifaceted conceptual design and production solutions to both internal and external stakeholders. This individual will also be managing and overseeing complex design projects from concept through production.

Essential Functions of the Job:
• Develops leading-edge designs and innovative ideas for print and electronic client deliverables.
• Effectively creates layouts with strong typography and appropriate use of color, images and fonts, allowing for readability of type.
• Effectively creates interactive presentations or proposals using a variety of software tools.
• Develops architecture, artwork and basic programming for creation of new media presentations, graphics web design and on-screen presentations.
• Develops complex concepts for packaging design and carries through with the construction of ideas.
• Effectively utilizes styles, master pages, templates, tracking, kerning and leading,
• Maintains expertise with graphics software tools, and proficiency in Word, Excel, Power Point, Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Acrobat, Flash, Dreamweaver, etc.
• Advanced knowledge for troubleshooting technical issues in graphic files for pre-press and printing linking graphics, including fonts and creating color separations.
• Develops best practices utilizing "state-of-the-art" techniques, equipment, and advancements within the design community.
• Thinks strategically to relate design work to the client's business needs.
• Facilitates project meetings and positive discussions relating to appropriate graphics methods/techniques to meet project requirements.
• Drive vendor management
• Raise awareness and supports firm brand.
• Acts as an advisor/coach in a peer mentor role or as a subject matter expert.
• Creates timelines and cost estimates for client approval.
• Establish goals, plans and measures with targeted follow up, for all approved change initiatives
• Create the structure and conditions to allow information flow within a team
• Promote openness and involvement from all team members
• Solicit a constant two-way flow of input and feedback
• The ability to focus efforts on external and internal clients, address their present and future needs, provide quality service and ensure client satisfaction.
• Demonstrate the value of the team's work by keeping the client up-to-date, and explaining issues, approaches and solutions (i.e., manage expectations)
• Analyze client needs beyond own responsibilities to understand the context for the current work in progress and involve client in process
• Articulate how different cultures impact the way business is managed across countries
• Maintain an external focus by keeping up-to-date with professional organizations, markets, trends and legislation
• Balance multiple priorities by considering risk, importance, level of urgency, political impacts and other linkages
• Work with team members to break complex goals into 'bite-sized' chunks
• Use the right project tools and methodologies for your practice
• Alert stakeholders when project scope changes; make the implications clear

Knowledge and Skills Requirements:
• Outstanding customer service skills
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and the ability to effectively interface with personnel at various levels
• Immaculate technical print production skills, both in house and with external vendors
