Senior Designer / Art Director

The Senior Designer/Art Director is responsible for concept idea generation and visual solutions, seeing the design process through from conception to execution.

You will work on a diverse range of projects from print, packaging, corporate identity (brand specific collateral), brand advertising, website work and additional marketing collateral.

A strong understanding of the pre and post production processes is essential, as is a high level of attention to detail and commitment to follow each individual brief from beginning through to execution.

You will join a creatively driven and busy studio environment and will collaborate, oversee and direct one or more Mid-Weight designers.

Previous Experience required:

Minimum of 5-6 years experience working in the design or editorial industry with proven experience working on luxury, fragrance and fashion brands.
You will be at a stage in your career where you are ready for the opportunity to move into a future Senior Art Director role.
Must have a strong graphic design portfolio demonstrating creative talent, refined sense of typography, luxury brand sensibility, and with an overall powerful sense of communication.

Adobe creative suite
Strong creative awareness: creative flair, originality and a strong visual sense
Confidence, to present and explain ideas to senior department stakeholders and colleagues
Strong graphic design skills: understanding of and experience in branding, layout, colour theory and typography in both print and digital media
The ability to grasp marketing, licensee and PR needs and consider practical solutions
Ability to deliver projects in a 360 way across all communication touchpoints
Excellent eye for detail
Strong communication and organisational skills
Pro-active and motivated
Ability to effectively manage multiple projects/tasks of varying complexities, meet deadlines and work well under pressure
Awareness of the competitive business environment in which they work
A matter-of-fact approach when ideas or designs are rejected
General Duties:

1. Conceives ideas, concepts, develops final designs, produces, works with others and coordinates in the creation of multifaceted communication materials in print, packaging, digital and other mediums.

2. Works with project managers and team members to provide professional recommendations for concept, design, art direction (if asked by Visual Director/Senior Art Director), production, print buying, and monitors quality control.

3. Defines design criteria; develops concept and direction; proposes, directs and creates art signed off by Visual Director/or Senior Art Director.

4. Operates a computer for a variety of graphic design activities, including layout, production, illustration, and prepress file preparation.

5. Creates and develops media using digital art and photographic techniques.

6. Responsible for print and prepress service specifications, approvals (signed off by Visual Director) and quality control, along with Project Management team.

7. Selects and recommends graphic and photographic materials, researches the latest in print and packaging techniques, sources trends.

8. Supervises, trains, and directs the work of mid weight and junior designer.

You must have experience working on fashion and luxury brands.
