Senior Art Director (Digital & Print)

We are seeking a talented freelance Senior Art Director to join our creative team in Washington D.C. You will be responsible for creating print and digital solutions for our clients. We are looking for someone who understands print and digital design while possessing a sophisticated aesthetic sense that works across multiple content channels. 

Our ideal candidate will have a proven track record of creating design solutions that focus on bringing our client’s business goals to life in the most engaging ways possible. You’ll be responsible for concept and execution of design solutions for print collateral, advertising, PowerPoint presentations, brand identity and short-form videos. Experience with food and nutrition clients is a must. 




Responsibilities: 
Conceptualize & Design 

• Develop highly creative concepts and designs for a variety of clients including brand, food and health accounts 
• Partner with creative directors, digital strategists, producers and account teams to develop campaign concepts. Understand creative needs in order to provide creative solutions that meet business objectives. 
• Drives integration of art direction and design and different media channels, including digital, print and video 
• Work with creative directors to story board and direct video and photo shoots for consumers and B2B clients 
• Understand and strategically apply the latest platform/industry/creative trends and digital best practices 
• Contribute your ideas and work as part of an integrated, inter-disciplinary agency team 
• Juggle multiple projects ranging from existing client work to new business pursuits under tight deadlines 
• Function as a brand steward by developing and comprehending client style guides while maintaining consistent graphic identities that align with other print and advertising media 
• Able to take abstract concepts and strategic content and use them to produce visually compelling presentations 
• Design and layout of collateral pieces, ads, posters, and hand-outs 
• Bring data and ideas to life through the design of custom graphics and ensure that all creative materials are delivered in a well-designed/laid-out, consistent and client ready manner 
• Demonstrate in-depth industry knowledge: typography, illustration, photography, color theory, motion graphics, multimedia authoring tools and corporate identity 
• See the big picture strategy and be a brand steward for all levels of design details 
• And go just beyond design executive. Be conceptual and brainstorm ideas with integrated content and account teams. 


Content Creation 
• Build strategic and compelling conversation and content across a variety of social and digital platforms by leveraging creative visual concepts 
• Develop strategic and creative recommendations for account teams and clients; regularly identify and present new ideas, concepts and design for clients and new business opportunities 
• Translate trends, technologies and metrics into understandable and visually compelling new business presentations 
• Collaborate with copy writers and creative directors develop cohesive design concepts/campaigns 

Relationship Building, Account Management and Client Consultation 
• Understand business objectives and how to work with clients to develop compelling creative concepts that drive engagement in print and digital media 
• Be flexible and facilitate teamwork within client account teams; coordinate team resources and create opportunities; fully utilize agency resources for your clients 
• Adhere to client/agency financial policies and procedures, as they relate to client plans and budgets 
• Continually strive to grow your understanding and knowledge of clients’ business and competitive environment(s); apply this information in preparing and presenting strategic and impactful concepts and designs
