Senior Art Director

The Senior Art Director is part of an in-house creative team and is responsible for developing innovative

and strategically driven concepts and translating them into finished copy and supervising the Art Director

or Junior Art Director. Using proven talent and consistent conceptual thinking, the Senior Art Director

communicates the brand message in a uniquely fresh, memorable, and persuasive way.

Job Description:

 With supervision and direction from the ACD, partners with a Copywriter and conceives and

executes print, direct mail, interactive, email and in-store collateral consistent with the agreed upon

strategy and in accordance with the brand guidelines.

 Responsible for developing and executing the creative vision based on input from project managers,

in-house creative team and personal research

 Provides ACD with strong support at Fashion photo shoots; takes the lead on still photo shoots with

still photographers on set

 Partners with brand and channel project managers, traffic, production and studio to effectively meet

project objectives, schedules, and deadlines

 Under the direction of, and with approval from, the Manager of Creative Services, monitor all

materials through all stages of pre-production and production

 Efficiently manage and complete all work on time, reporting status of projects to the ACD.

 Remains current on industry trends.

 See projects from inception through completion

 Responsible for partnering and working with the AD, Jr. AD, and intern to execute all aspects of a

specific project

 Knowledgeable of budget parameters and applies that knowledge through concept development and

creative execution.


 Working knowledge of photography, color separation and printing budgets

 Strong knowledge of Photoshop, InDesign and Illustrator.

 Must be Mac savvy

 A huge plus would be someone with Fashion understanding

 Working knowledge of current execution techniques in 2 & 3 dimensional design

 Working knowledge and current on computer design, techniques and file sharing

 Proven talent and a strong design sense (several well produced branding campaigns)

 Proven ability to work in all mediums with a heavy concentration in print

 Thinks and articulates both verbally and visually when working with/without copywriters and

other designers

 Proven ability to effectively present ideas to team, clients, and/or senior creative team

 Intelligent thinking, strong organizational skills and accuracy

 Ability to juggle multiple projects

 Proven ability as a problem solver and to take the initiative to solve issues

 Proficient in InDesign, Photoshop and Illustrator

 Possess a solid understanding of photography, Illustration, print process and typography

 Can translate design both 2 and 3 dimensionally?

 Under guidance ability to supervise still photo shoots?

 Working knowledge of store design

 Sensitivity to type – how it looks

 5-7 years of related work experience and/or training or equivalent combinations of educations and


 A plus would be someone who has worked an in-house retail agency or advertising agency as an

AD or SR. AD

 High School degree, BFA or design degree required
