We’re working with a client in the Education industry to find a Senior Art Director to join their in-house creative team! This role will be a key member of the National Marketing Group and will help the in-house creative agency become an in-demand, best-in-class shop.

The SAD will help lead and participate in all aspects of the creative process. With hands-on responsibility for leading the creative product and directing all work passing through the team, the SAD will be a “big idea” person who can lead and motivate.

In this important role, the SAD will be responsible for ensuring that our solutions captivate the imagination of the organization’s business units and target markets, that creative energy and innovation are fostered across the team, that the high quality of our work remains foremost, and that the team develops under the SAD’s leadership.

The SAD will ideally have an agency background and will be able to lead campaigns as well as work with senior teams to brainstorm, lead, develop, critique and sign off on all creative work across multiple platforms and channels. The SAD will report to the Executive Director of Creative Services.

Responsibilities:
• Lead and manage a team of designers in the visual development and delivery of creative solutions that effectively convey the brand and strengthen customer engagement
• Establish and own every aspect of the internal visual design process from initial concept to live implementation
• Mentor the creative team's professional development by providing constructive critique and encouraging skill mastery
• Attract, recruit and retain design talent (in-house and freelance) across all creative disciplines
• Encourage team members to take risks with creative projects and defend them against challengers
• Constantly work to improve communications and processes necessary for optimum creative output
• Help inspire a culture of creation throughout the entire company

Qualifications:
• Industry-leading conceptual and visual thinker who can lead and navigate creative development with visual problem solving and communication skills
• Strong portfolio that demonstrates a range of brand-building, digital-savvy, and relationship marketing executions
• Strong art and copy direction credentials; ability to work across a broad range of competencies such as UX/UI, digital graphics/GUI, branding identity, typography and data visualization
• Strong relationship builder with the ability to listen to others; ability to communicate clearly and effectively with colleagues at all levels as well as external partners; ability to communicate complex ideas in a simple way and to tailor key messages and presentation styles to multiple audiences
• Stellar aesthetic with a passion for clean, sophisticated, user-centric design and simple, direct messaging
• Advanced Adobe Creative Suite and MS Office skills
• Team leader who can delegate, develop and motivate a team to encourage a high level of ownership/accountability and productivity
• Proven ability to earn respect and credibility throughout an organization
• Voracious learner, highly imaginative and passionately curious about the world; up-to-date on all current marketing, creative and digital trends
• Process-oriented thinker who anticipates and thinks through business challenges
• Bright, high-energy, passionate individual with a strong work ethic
• Hands-on, self-directed, team-oriented, articulate, flexible and comfortable with candid, direct communication within a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment
• Bachelor's degree in marketing, advertising or communications; MA/MFA preferred
• 5+ years of industry experience in a well-established leadership role with a proven track record of success managing entry-level to senior-level designers
