The Technical Project Manager / Scrum Master will be responsible for managing the Agile-based SDLC for a Scrum team consisting of a Product Owner and several development resources. Candidates must be results-oriented, servant leaders who enjoy taking ownership of highly visible and mission-critical projects that require focus on details and elegant user experiences. The ability to handle a variety of tasks and priorities in a demanding, fast-paced and high-performance environment, while working effectively with a range of personalities and technical backgrounds, both independently and in team settings is extremely important. The candidate will be expected to be product knowledgeable, technically savvy, and fluent in Agile practices.
Roles and Responsibilities:
• Organize and facilitate project planning, daily stand-up meetings, reviews, retrospectives, sprint and release planning, demos and other Scrum-related meetings
• Track and communicate team velocity and sprint/release progress
• Ensure the development teams are practicing the core agile principles of collaboration, prioritization, team accountability, and visibility
• Tactically and strategically remove impediments, prevent distractions that interfere with the ability of the team to deliver the sprint goal
• Assist the Product Owners as needed with backlog maintenance.
• Recommend improvements and assist in changes to best practice
• Assist with internal and external communication, improving transparency, and propagating information
• Assist team with making appropriate commitments through story selection, task definition
• Maintain process documentation
• Facilitate discussion and conflict resolution
• Maintain meetings to time-boxed allocation
• Empower the teams to self-organize
• Shield the development team from external interferences
• Daily drives toward velocity increases
Qualifications and Requirements:
• Must be a Certified Scrum Master with 3+ years project management and Scrum Master experience in a software development environment.
• A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related discipline, or equivalent work experience or technical training.
• Excellent team player and team builder
• Ability to work with minimal supervision in a very dynamic and timeline sensitive work environment
• Multiple years experience working with an agile methodology during a large scale, complex new development project for a large enterprise
• Excellent interpersonal skills, ability to work with diverse personality types
• Ability to understand technical issues at a high level
• Thorough understanding of agile software development methodologies, values, and procedures
• Thorough understanding of the software development lifecycle
• Proven ability to work independently with limited supervision and with other department personnel in a very dynamic and timeline sensitive work environment
• Must have exceptional communication, organization, and time management skills
• Ability to coach the team to reach their highest potential
• Must be "self-motivated" as well as creative and efficient in proposing solutions to complex, time-critical problems
• Must be collaborative in driving decisions
• Ability to deal with multiple projects and deadlines
• Strong analytical and problem solving skills with a high attention to detail
• Ability to hold team members accountable, set clear performance standards, resolve performance issues, keep team engaged and on task
Preferred Qualification/Skills:
• Prior experience as a software developer or tester
• Experience in a LAMP web development environment is highly desirable
• Experience with project management services: e.g. Rally, Jira, Sharepoint
• Experience with Kanban
• Design software experience (Photoshop/Illustrator) a plus
