Scrum Master

Our client is looking for an experienced Scrum Master to join their in-house agency located in NYC. This agency is within a large, well-known consulting company whose core is understanding the digital space and preparing for what's next. This person will function as an integrator between business needs and technology solutions, helping to create technology solutions to meet clients' business needs. They will gain exposure to multiple industries while demonstrating an awareness of the full breadth of services offered by the organization. Responsibilities include defining systems strategy, developing system requirements, designing, prototyping, and testing custom technology solutions, and supporting system implementation. We empower our clients to re-imagine how they connect and engage with their customers

Responsibilities:

  • Guiding the team on how to use Agile/Scrum practices and values, how to improve velocity, and optimizing the effectiveness of the team as a whole 
  • Preparing for and conducting Agile ceremonies (Sprint Planning, Daily Standup, Sprint Review, and Sprint Retrospective)
  • Facilitating discussion, decision making, conflict resolution, and completion of work
  • Assisting with internal and external communication, improving transparency, and radiating
  • Supporting and educating the Product Owner, especially with respect to grooming and maintaining the product backlog
  • Providing all support to the team and leading by example
    • Managing dependencies with other Scrum Teams through Scrum of Scrum ceremonies and collaboration with other teams in the organization
    • Managing burn down/up charts, task boards, issues lists, and other tools used for Agile/Scrum projects
    • Producing weekly status reports and leading status update meetings

Required Qualifications:

  • First level Scrum Master certification (CSM, PSM I) 
  • Experience working as a Scrum Master role within a development team that was applying Scrum principles, practices, and theory
  • Knowledge of facilitation, situational awareness, conflict resolution, continual improvement, empowerment, and increasing transparency 
  • Knowledge of numerous well documented patterns and techniques for filling in the intentional gaps left in the Scrum approach
  • Previous experience as a team lead and excellent communication and mentoring skills 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Second level Scrum Master certification (CSP, PSM II) 
  • Knowledge of other Agile approaches: XP, Kanban, Crystal, FDD, etc 
  • Knowledge and/or experience with widely successful Agile techniques
  • Ability to travel to client sites
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, or other technology-related field or equivalent number of years of experience.
