The Science Marketing Writer will write, edit, and authenticate scientific marketing content for product data sheets, technical notes, educational materials, newsletter articles, web pages, and other marketing communications. These materials support next-generation sequencing and microarray products used to study genetic variation and function for research, clinical, and diagnostic applications.
The candidate must synthesize and describe complex scientific data, and be well versed in scientific terminology, principles, and publishing standards. S/he must communicate complex concepts to audiences ranging from novice users to scientific thought leaders. The candidate is expected to collaborate with multiple internal groups to align marketing content with other outbound marketing materials and business goals.
The position requires superior project and time management skills, excellent organization, and unfailing attention to detail and quality. The candidate should thrive in a fast-paced environment and independently manage multiple projects from concept to publication under tight deadlines and changing conditions, while coordinating input from multiple stakeholders. This requires the ability to influence across boundaries, find win-win solutions, and respond to obstacles creatively and resourcefully.
English proficiency and excellent grammatical, writing, and editorial skills are required. Familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite and enterprise content management systems is preferred. Applicant must be comfortable working with a diverse population in different areas of the company.
Research and write persona- and product-based web content, data sheets, technical notes, application notes, press releases, white papers, educational materials, and other marketing content.
Author web content in an enterprise content management system.
Collaborate with Marketing and Sales to implement messaging and content strategy.
Align with other writers in Writing Services on standards, conventions, and writing style.
Interview customers for articles and video testimonials.
Coordinate stakeholders from various departments and companies to review, illustrate, and publish content.
Participate in team and individual initiatives to improve standards, tools, and procedures.
Quickly learn and apply new tools, processes, and scientific information.
Occasional travel required.
Advanced degree in biology, molecular biology, genetics, or other life science field; three years of experience in scientific marketing writing or the equivalent; and experience writing or reviewing scientific literature. Marketing experience is a plus.
