SEO Specialist / Web Producer

Our client, one of the largest nonprofit, nonpartisan organizations with a membership of more than 37 million is seeking an experienced and consumer-facing SEO Specialist / Web Journalist to edit and produce content. With a focus in SEO best practices and analysis, the successful candidate will be a top-notch editorial thinker, able to conceive and create great content (practical, inspirational, and aspirational). This is a long-term contract position in their Washington, DC office.

The SEO Specialist is a key member of the Audience Engagement team and is responsible for formalizing search engine optimization (SEO) and search engine marketing (SEM) strategies and tactics supporting all aspects of online marketing. With a heavy focus on search engine optimization & content marketing, the SEO Specialist serves as a functional expert and is responsible for analyzing organic website traffic and providing strategies for improvement; developing SEO website assessments and recommendations and translating them into technical requirements; providing SEO guidance in technical areas such as website structure and page construction; reviewing and managing page tagging; and consistently analyzing changing opportunities and trends in search engine algorithms and important keywords.

Must have **significant **editorial experience, including several years in a web environment; exemplary understanding of SEO, highly technical and analytical; experience working in magazines or newspapers a big plus. Must play extremely well with others (up, down, and sideways) in a complex organization and be utterly unflappable. Experience working in a large membership and/or advocacy organization also a plus, as is working familiarity with the home and garden content area.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Creation and development of SEO content, Coordinate web projects across departments, edits and produces articles and other content, ensures that editorial and legal standards for content are met and maintained, enters content into content management system, liaison with other teams within the organization as the functional SEO expert.

• Manage SEO task fulfillment
- Keyword research
- Competitive market analysis
- Optimization of website content and code
- Link prospecting and acquisition
- Content creation
• Web production in Adobe CQ5
• Web analytics and reporting, and ensuring producers' use of current SEO best practices.
• Page building for channels in Adobe CQ5
• Act as the designated liaison to third-party SEO and PPC vendors
• Responsible for training web producers(how to conduct keyword research, write title tags and META descriptions, etc.)
• Weekly/monthly in-depth reporting on visitor behavior using Adobe Site Catalyst 15

REQUIREMENTS/SKILLS:
• 5+ years professional experience (or equivalent)
• 3+ years experience with content management systems and SEO platforms
• Deep understanding of online communications and marketing, SEO and social media
• Internet research skills
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills – strong command of English language, while understanding advertising and marketing language
• Analytical thinker/Problem solver – able to devise relevant solutions
• Quick learner – self-motivated and able to multi-task
• Works well under pressure and deadlines
• Outstanding customer service skills
• Strong attention to detail
• Team player

• Prior SEO / Content Marketing Management experience a plus, experience with BrightEdge platform a plus
• Minimum Technical Skill/Background: General experience with Web content production tools (Web editors, CMS, etc); 3+ years using large-scale CMS (e.g., Communique, Vignette, Teamsite, etc).
• Proficient in MS Office
• Web development experience is a plus
