Retail Vendor Manager II

My client’s vendor manager team, has an immediate need for on-boarding vendors. This is a Short-term contract with possibility to extend pending performance.

Direct contact with vendors
Establishing and auditing vendor catalogs including customer facing content
Auditing and optimizing sourcing configurations
Managing the several steps of on-boarding including work with cross-functional teams such as legal, accounts payable, ordering, etc.
Weekly reporting on progress and metrics

Basic Qualifications
Expertise in Excel
Able to work in a fast-paced, always-changing work environment
Ability to conceptualize and execute projects with limited oversight
Strong bias for action and ability to prioritize and meet deadline

Preferred Qualifications
Experience with SQL
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Able to learn new tools quickly
Strong data skills, excel modeling, dig into data.
Ability to deal with ambiguity and good communication skills – email vendors directly.

The Team
The Retail Vendor Management team manages the relationships of different vendors. Most are in consumable space. You will help to onboard many of the new vendors. Take them through the process of getting the contracts set up, deciding what selections to carry, onboarding the selection, making sure the data is good, working with the in stock team to make sure they are operationally on boarded and creating the forecasts for the ordering. End to end process. 60 different vendors to work on. Different stages with different vendors. Same process for all.

Typical Work Day
Flexible in general, standard is 830-9 to 5-6, core working hours. Onsite. Most likely no overtime.

Team Culture
The department feels like a start-up although it’s part of a global ecommerce organization. The department is currently building their tools. The team is only a year old. On this team you need to show ownership, inventive idea’s when onboarding vendors.

Length of Assignment
2 months. Extension not likely, but could happen.

Conversion to FTE status is possible.
