Retail Partner Marketing manager

Our client is a very popular software company that enables conversations to happen around the world. They are looking for a Retail Partner Marketing Manager to work within Partner Marketing supporting 2 revenue generating teams. The key to this role is supporting teams that work with prepayment cards on a global scale. You will be supporting payment providers and local partners and looking at increasing the ways to pay. The role is paying between £70000 – 75000 pro rata and will run until the 30th June 2014 initially with the potential to extend. Based in Central London.

You will be working with the retail teams to drive marketing for retail marketing and working with partner managers to drive partner marketing. These are growth areas of the business. You will need to have a solid understanding of retail marketing and understand the ways people can pay for goods. You will be looking at what to do quarter by quarter on a global basis both in store and online so you will need to have in store and/or online retail marketing or channel marketing knowledge. You will be dealing with budgets of up to £4Million a year so it would be valuable if you have worked to budgets of this size previously.

You will be comfortable working and managing 3rd parties, partners and in country relationship management. You will have worked with prepaid payment cards and prepay credit.

Our client is continuously innovating and has recently introduced prepaid cards into offline and online retail in 4 markets, as an easy and convenient way to buy Credit and Subscriptions to pay for low cost calling and for other value added products. In addition the client continues to develop partnerships with payment providers to enable more ways for its users to pay for the paid products. They have been building out their presence in retail stores across these 4 markets and this has required developing new relationships with retailer partners, understanding how to position and place the cards within the retail environment and creating the marketing plans to drive demand for the products in retail. The payment partners differ by market, in some cases they are their primary partners in those countries for paid products and in others they are working with the retail partners too – in all cases driving awareness and demand are key to growing the businesses.

The client is looking to recruit a partner marketing manager with experience in working with Retailers and Payment Partners, preferably both offline and online and in multiple markets. The partner marketing manager will work closely with the Business and Marketing Development team who manage the roll-out of the retail and payments business, with in country teams where they exist and with the Retail team where appropriate. You will be responsible for managing every aspect of the marketing relationship from the proposition, through positioning and messaging, to creating marcomms and channel marketing campaigns and materials and driving the successful execution of the plans.
The successful candidate will have deep marketing partnership management experience, manage operational processes, lead retail and payment partners channel marketing activities and will have worked very closely with business and market development. You will report into the Director of Partner Marketing.

The role will have the following key responsibilities:

1. Translate the retail and payment partners’ plans into channel marketing plans, working cross functionally with Business Development & Market Development teams, Audience Marketing, Product Marketing and World Wide Retail teams.

2. Define value proposition, positioning and messaging for Stored Value Cards, Payment Partners and related product bundles for target audiences in alignment with overall market and product positioning of the business.

3. Create & execute the plans for retail and Payment partners, including channel marketing plans by retailer, channel, payment partners or market as required.

4. Define, develop and manage the experience in retail for cards and payments, including working with Creative teams, internally and externally, to develop sales materials, in store retail placement, all campaign and promotional collateral, in a manner that can be cost effectively localised and used by multiple markets.

5. Define and support any market research required to enhance customer insight pre, during or post purchase and improve performance in retail channels and with Payment partners.

6. Track and monitor performance of marketing initiatives to manage ROI and with a view to optimising effectively.

7. Develop effective cadence of planning and relationship management with the retailer and payment partners’ teams.


• Our ideal candidate is a marketer with a solid track record within similar marketing roles, ideally coming from roles in retail marketing, in-store retail creative placement, or product marketing or marketing communications.

▪ Can quickly and easily adjust to an agile and dynamic environment and execute deliverables.
▪ Able to fluently discuss and manage all aspects of partner marketing, analytics, engagement and reporting systems.
▪ Ability to influence and gain momentum with virtual teams
▪ Proven success in developing, implementing, and executing processes and frameworks to improve efficiency for marketing communications
▪ Excellent time management and able to juggle multiple projects and partners at the same time.
▪ Detail-oriented with great organizational skills and are meticulous in follow-up.
▪ Highly analytical and data-driven.
▪ Ability to run quickly with little supervision and adapt to a fast-paced, constantly changing environment.
▪ BA / BSc required; MBA optional, Proven background in similar role.
