In this assignment, you will join a UX Team that consists of Interaction Designers, User Experience Researchers, UX Engineers, and UI Writers who focus on the user experience for all products in the client's Cloud UX and Developer Infrastructure org. They provide design & research that leads to useful, usable, consistent, scalable cloud-based products that empower internal and external developers to build websites, apps, and services on the same robust infrastructure that powers client’s own products.
The research assistant will be responsible for supporting regular cycles of usability studies which are required to help cross-functional teams (product management, UX, engineering and business development) recruit customers/users, observe usability testing sessions, take notes, provide detailed transcripts for the team, and assist with data collection activities. You're a responsible and organized individual who can keep tabs on many projects, pay close attention to details, and plan well while accommodating the unexpected. Using your strong communication skills, you'll effectively contact members of the public to confirm their suitability for studies and schedule their participation in a variety of study formats. These duties will help make decisions both on tactical user interface changes and strategic direction for new and existing products or services.
Top 3 Daily Responsibilities:
Recruit customers/users for UX research studies, including lab-based usability studies, field studies, and surveys.
Ensure effective communication of research study notes, and provide detailed transcripts and collect data.
Help with UX improvements based on observing usability testing sessions.
Collaborate with product teams to define and prioritize research questions
Screen candidates for availability, interest level, and appropriate qualifications using online questionnaire responses and phone interviews
Coordinate the logistics of user research, including participant scheduling, facility scheduling, and distribution of incentives
BA/BS in Computer Science, Human-Computer Interaction, Cognitive Science, Experimental Psychology, Anthropology, Information Science or related field or 2+ years experience
2+ years experience with BA/BS or 1+ years experience with MS degree
Excellent analytical ability, especially with regard to observation of user behavior.
Strong oral and written communication skills.
Nice to Have Skills/Not Required:
Any experience in web technology and standards, business applications, online ads, retail.
Demonstrated proficiency with office productivity tools including email, web browser, web apps, database search, spreadsheets/word processors (Google Apps).
MS or PhD in related field with no experience is acceptable
