Hire an awesome leader in Tokyo? ← That’s where you come in!

The Tokyo Regional Director will...

You will lead and drive the growth of our Tokyo business. You will have full P&L responsibility to invest and manage resources to make that happen. You will hire great people, set clear goals, provide exceptional coaching, deliver fanatical customer service, and, as a result, achieve continuous revenue growth. You won’t be sitting behind a desk manipulating spreadsheets, you’ll be side by side with your team, connecting directly with clients, talent, and industry thought leaders.

You will fully live the Aquent Four Principles. Under your leadership a culture of learning and experimentation will blossom, where people help others and make difference, where your team will be high performing and have a blast.

Aquent is entrepreneurial, proving a little bit of a “choose your own adventure” to this role: You will manage and develop staff, create account strategies, collaborate with cross-functional teams to launch new divisions, work with senior management to develop and implement new business strategies, and implement training and technology innovations from outside of Japan.

You will grow to be a beacon of knowledge and expertise in the marketing and design community—clients will want to hear your opinions, will want to meet with you to learn best practices, will turn to you for advice.

What will work be like...

Our company was founded by three college roommates who hired their friends and siblings as the first employees; that notion of work as a vehicle for friends to do something fun together still exists. But we also view the company as a vehicle to make a difference in the world. The result is a performance culture where people are expected to hit targets and meet commitments. And what’s cool, we’ve figured out how to do that and and at the same time maintain work/life balance.

You’ll join during a growth and investment phase. We’ve doubled the size of the market in the past 6 months, new employees have the opportunity to go to company headquarters in Boston for training, and all leaders worldwide come together to share and exchange learning on a regular basis.

The Tokyo office itself is located minutes from Aoyama-itchome station, with lots of natural sunlight and incredible panoramic views of Shinjuku and Meiji Jingu stadium, and is around the corner from the best om-rice this side of Osaka. In our office we have our own soft cream machine, regular pizza lunches, and our dress code is cool biz all year round. Our office layout is so intriguing clients come to our office and take notes so they can go back and reconfigure their spaces. Really.

Are you right for this role...

Fundamentally we’re looking for someone who can lead and drive business results in a culture that requires curiosity, urgency, tenacity, and a sense of mission.

The following experiences are typical of our most successful leaders: demonstrated sales success, usually B-to-B; prior management role; some background in design or marketing, especially digital; any experience in staffing or recruiting; a bit of a geek for technology; active on social media.

We work in both Japanese and English.
