QA Lead/Release Manager, you will head the quality team that will lead the charge in delivering the best-in-class experience to our viewers. As the lead, you will also be responsible for defining the QA strategy and process, rolling out test tools, automating testing and ensuring that every release conforms to Discovery’s high standards of quality and excellence. You will collaborate closely with the engineering leads, customer support, product and other technical teams in maintaining the premium user experience and launching exciting new features and products to our viewers. If you are someone who has excellent communication skills, maintains a positive attitude and has good decision-making skills then this is a great role for you. Additionally, you will also be Point of contact for assisting Customer Support Teams in SEA and EU with technical issues, payment disbursements, FAQs, and general troubleshooting. In addition, this person brings fresh ideas to the team and identifies ways to enhance the success of their department.
Duties and Responsibilities:
The role of the QA Manager will be to lead the test efforts for a kids mobile application. In this role, you will:
+ Work with business, development, and project management teams to understand product vision and requirements
+ Understand how all components of the multi-team services integrate work together and develop QA approaches that fit the overall strategy
+ Own the development of test strategies and creation of appropriate test harnesses
+ Oversee the development and execution of test plans and monitoring/reporting on test execution
+ Lead a team of test engineers to ensure superior quality product delivery
+ 5+ years of experience with at least 3 years in a QA Manager or Test Lead role
+ Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or equivalent combination of technical education and experience
+ Strong QA background with experience in identifying and reviewing test plans, test cases and testing results
+ Proven track record in identifying and implementing automated testing tools and frameworks
+ Solid track record for delivery of high quality products
+ Strong people management skills
+ Strong project management skills, preferably with experience in an agile development environment and continuous integration
+ Strong understanding of the Software Development Life Cycle
Experience in testing mobile technologies, back-end services, and consumer analytics
Experience in the media and entertainment industries
Experience in preparing quality metrics and effectively engaging with stakeholders to set and drive quality goals
• Monitor and test fixes to ensure problems have been adequately resolved.
• Track and analyze trends in help desk requests and generate statistical reports.
• Assess need for system reconfigurations (minor or significant) based on request trends and make recommendations to management team.
• Identify, recommend, develop, and implement help sheets, user guides, FAQ lists, and training programs to increase end user computer literacy and self-sufficiency.
• Minimum of 5 years of hands-on software testing experience
• Minimum of 2 years in a management role overseeing a team of 5+ Engineers and SDET’s
• Minimum of 2 years working with agile techniques (i.e. Scrum/Kanban models)
