QA/Development Technician

Aquent is looking for for skilled technologists with QA backgrounds for our client in NW Houston. Successful candidates will have a demonstrated ability for all aspects of PC build, tear-down, troubleshooting, ghosting, re-imaging and issue resolution. Tenacious, curious, problem solving individuals looking for a new challenge in technology will thrive in this position.

General Requirements:
- Technical/IT Associates Degree

- 2-4 years of relevant test/validation experience

- Experience with Web development and Ruby on Rails

- Experience with test and app automation

- Excellent communication skills, verbal and written

- Strong critical thinking and analytical problem solving skills are needed

- Ability to think creatively to solve complex problems

- Ability to work effectively within cross-functional teams utilizing people skills

- Operates well under general supervision

- Has a strong understanding of all major aspects of computer HW and FW/SW & knowledge of multiple platforms

- Experienced in updating and modifying BIOS settings

- Familiar with the general operation and internal architecture of Windows Operating system(s)

- Troubleshooting experience to isolate failures to the subsystem level

- Microsoft Office – Excel charts/pivot tables, etc

- Familiarity with low-level OS & Application components (Graphics Driver, OpenGL, PC HW architecture, PCI, Windows kernel debugging, etc.) will be an asset.

- Familiarity with Windows software tools and programming languages (C, C++, script) is an asset.

- Hands on experience in one or more of the following:
* Demonstrated PC hardware system tear down and re-construction aptitude
* Windows and/or Linux Operating systems
* InstallShield, Ghost, and Microsoft Windows unattended installation technologies.
* DirectX 3D or GDI 2D graphics tests

Technical Duties:
- Performs testing tasks and executes established test plans and schedules

- Configures desktop computer hardware, software and firmware as required for testing

- Actively involved in defect finding, trouble shooting, reporting and suggesting root causes

- Performs ad hoc/exploratory testing and defect characterization and writes clear and concise defect reports
