Publishing Specialist, Sr.

Our client is in need of a Senior Publishing Specialist.

The position will work with the Creative Services Group and will serve as an Electronic Publishing lead on proposal, manuals, and documents. Ensures that all materials produced meet quality standards and corporate branding principles. Ensures that work is performed according to established schedules, and that deadlines are met. Works in an active, leadership role in a team environment that includes all levels of Creative and internal staff. Reports to the EP Supervisor.
Responsibilities
• Serves as electronic publishing lead on proposals, manuals, and other documents.
− Works in and encourages collaborative environment with account manager, project coordinator, lead editor, EP staff, and copy center staff.
− Reviews RFIs/RFPs and works closely with project coordinators to assess technical requirements and staffing needs. Advises coordinator and client, as needed, on electronic publishing issues.
− Establishes text and graphic templates and instructions.
− Performs advanced text processing, composition, and graphics functions in many application packages and on jobs that cross multiple platforms.
− Ensures that EP staff understand requirements, distributes work among staff, monitors quality of work, and provides staff with feedback.
− QAs text and graphics throughout production for quality and consistency. Monitors workflow and ensures deadlines are met.
− Coordinates electronic and hard copy printing of document and corresponding deliverables.
− Displays complete understanding of Proposal quality standards and corporate branding guidelines, and ensures that all materials produced conform to these guidelines. Supports procedures that enhance cost-effective, efficient workflow and production.
− Performs functions to standards on and off site.
• Takes primary responsibility for standalone projects, working directly with Proposal account managers and coordinators to take in specifications, perform text processing, composition, and graphics creation, and ensuring that work is done by deadline.
• Assists EP Supervisor with numerous administrative projects, such as:
− Working with temporary agencies to identify EP specialists with appropriate skill sets

− Performing system backups, file maintenance, and archiving
− Reviewing and approving e-logs and time sheets


• Stays abreast of current technology used in the publishing field. Helps EP supervisor guide temporary and subcontractor staff on using new technologies.

• Performs as a project coordinator or as a backup for another project coordinator on an as-needed basis.
• Performs system administration duties such as file maintenance and archiving.
• Performs special projects, administrative tasks, and other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience
BA/BS or equivalent work experience. Minimum of 6 years of experience in text processing, computer graphics, or electronic publishing environment. Demonstrated ability in leading publishing projects. Supervisory experience desired. Preferred minimum speed of 70 w.p.m. with proven ability for accuracy.
Organizational Considerations for Good Job Fit
The ideal candidate has excellent publishing services skills and aptitude for serving as lead on projects. Candidate should have organizational skills and ability to balance multiple projects running concurrently. Should be an excellent communicator and comfortable working in a team environment. Should be flexible working under tight deadlines with changing priorities. Ability to resolve problems independently and exercise good judgement.
