Report to: Print Services Manager
Hours: 9 am – 5 pm

The Role:
This role is part of a design team providing high-quality creative and technical design services to parliamentary departments. Work is both print and digital based. The team is also developing expertise in effective presentation of complex information via infographic and other visual design devices.
The design team is responsible for publishing and distributing parliamentary information to staff and as an internal print production service it provides business paper and other print services for departments within parliament.
In this role you will be giving advice and helping some of the other designers with print production.

Description of Duties:
- Implementation and development of an existing report/business paper publishing workflow using content authored in Word templates, imported into InDesign and published in a variety of formats including pdf, html and epublishing.
- Supporting/training teams in the use of the publishing workflow, assisting with the creation of reports and troubleshooting issues as they arise.
- Overseeing design resource to effectively support staff using the publishing workflow.
- Continual development of new publishing workflows using a variety of inputs (e.g. Word and xml) into InDesign for publishing in pdf, html and epublishing.

Essential Skills and Experience:
- Substantial proven track record of using publishing workflows incorporating sophisticated Word templates and Adobe InDesign mapping capabilities to automate production of reports and other publications.
- Extensive experience of creating a variety of outputs from Adobe InDesign including pdf (for print and web), html, xml and epublishing.
- Experience of coaching staff in digital publishing – facilitating learning, and building a climate of learning and continuous development.
- Good understanding of html and xml.
- Good customer service skills, including strong communication skills with the ability to advise and influence staff at all levels with tact and diplomacy.
- Excellent organisational skills, and a flexible approach to work, with the ability to prioritise and delegate so that strict deadlines are met.

Desirable Skills and Experience:
- Graphic design skills with long form text documents.
- A knowledge of Adobe DPS publishing.
