Public Relations/Social Media Manager

Our healthcare client is embracing social media, ranging from Facebook, Twitter and YouTube, to the gamification of wellness, to an internal Jive-based intranet platform and our affordability microsite.

The Social Media Manager is responsible for building and optimizing social media strategies and action plans targeted at opinion leaders and the media, including day-to-day management of social media platforms, and monitoring and tracking effectiveness of social media initiatives. This manager works closely with Corporate Marketing, E-Business, Customer Service and various Business Units to assure that strategies are coordinated and complimentary.

The candidate must have proven experience building and launching successful social media programs within corporate environments. The candidate must have a foundation in web functionality, content management systems, digital marketing, product management, and leveraging analytics to optimize digital performance. The candidate must have an expert understanding of the social media landscape, platforms and measurement tools.

Social Media Manager Responsibilities

• Develops and executes comprehensive proactive digital and social media strategies targeted at opinion leaders and the media (including blogs, discussion boards, Twitter, YouTube, Facebook, etc.) that enable the company to drive positive news throughout the digital ecosystem, and to identify and combat negative news and opinion quickly and effectively.

o Coordinates efforts with business unit and functional area marketing and communications staff.

o Provides counsel on, and implementation of, social and new media initiatives in support of strategic priorities.

• Manages Corporate Communications related news and information on Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, corporate microsites, and other social and new media in support of the organization’s reputation strategy

o Works routinely with Corporate Marketing, E-Business and Business Units to coordinate and integrate complementary efforts.

o Creates strategy and produces content for Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, corporate microsites, etc. that extends and complements traditional media.

 Manages creative development, planning, editing, and shooting of video content, graphics, and other content for inclusion in online, new and social media.

o Leverages social media channels to create engaging social and new media content on a proactive, real-time basis for implementation and execution of media and opinion leader campaigns in support of corporate strategic objectives.

• Monitors and intervenes in digital and social media to strengthen and protect corporate reputation.

o Engages elite influencers (bloggers, reporters, editors, others) via social and new media platforms to further enhance reputation.

 Obtains recognition for positive differentiating features while working to increase positive online media stories; spearheads positive social media engagement.

o Increase positive online media stories.

o Provides timely and effective intervention to protect and strengthen company reputation in online media — and minimize and/or eliminate negative online media stories.

o Monitors company presence on social networks, blogs, news platforms, etc. for proactive/reactive outreach; responsible for social media monitoring and response.

o End to End management of Social Media channels during company events.

o Takes timely and effective action to protect and strengthen company reputation in online media.

 Identifies online venues that have greatest impact and monitors content on those venues; creates and implements complementary supporting strategies.

• Champion excellence in social media efforts.

o Share best practices and provide consultative services to various business units on how business objectives can best be met via social media

o Partner closely with the internal departments and stakeholders to develop strategy and execution of integrated internal/external social media programs


Education/Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree and 5+ years of experience in digital and social media public relations or related business field.

• Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to create presentations for all levels of management that display the value and need of strong social media presence.

• Strong analytical skills including the ability summarize metrics and results in an easily consumable way.

• Must possess strategic and creative thinking skills that enable problem solving.

• Experience managing high-profile projects that involve multiple business stakeholders. Must be able to work under time constraints and pressure while maintaining focus and consistency to campaign goals and budgets.

• Experience with SEO techniques.

• Healthcare experience not necessary. Must be an outstanding researcher and communicator.

• PR experience in a corporate setting, public relations agency or medical institution environment is helpful.

• Journalism experience is also helpful.
