Public Relations/Media Relations Specialist

The Public Relations Specialist will help build brand awareness and strengthen the company’s positioning in the marketplace by formulating and implementing compelling media strategies that extend market leadership, support business/growth and respond to/neutralize competitive challenges. 

Key to this role is the understanding of strategic communication, stakeholder engagement and media relations, as it relates to key topics of interest to the company (prescription price transparency, interoperability, opioids, and prescription accuracy). 

The Public Relations Specialist works collaboratively within the Marketing organization, with the PR agency and across business/functional groups to support effective planning, development, management and execution of earned media to maximize reach and impact of strategic messages against prioritized targets. 

Responsibilities: 
• Develop and cultivate relationships with key trade and business media, industry analysts and influencers that focus on key topics of interest to the client across traditional and social media 
• Create compelling earned media strategies, including newsmaker surveys, contributed articles, op-eds, etc. 
• Manage and develop earned media pitches/story angles 
• Identify opportunities for partnerships, sponsorships and advertising to support earned media 
• Manage media inquiries and interview requests 
• Develop and maintain inventory of media talking points on topics of interest to client
• Maintain list of approved spokespersons, including internal SMEs, customers, end-users and third-party experts 
• Monitor media channels, including public policy developments, and recommend rapid response engagement opportunities to drive earned media 
• Maintain a keen understanding of industry trends affecting key customer segments 
• Make PR recommendations regarding segment-specific or product-specific marketing campaigns 

Basic Requirements: 
• Bachelor degree in communications, public relations, marketing, journalism, English, business or equivalent experience 
• 5 years of corporate communications management or consulting 
• Proven track record designing and executing successful earned media campaigns 
• Demonstrated experience in B2B marketing and corporate communications 
• Ability to translate technical/product information into compelling media content 
• Proven list of contacts and placements in mainstream business, trade and consumer media 
• Solid experience with social media including blogs, Facebook, Twitter, etc. 
• Exceptional writing and editing skills 
• Industry: Healthcare (B2B product or Consumer), health information technology, network technology
