Public Relations Executive - In-House, Travel

My client is a fantastic corporation that operate Globally in the travel industry. This role plays an integral part in delivering the marketing communications strategy for their travel brands.

The essence of this role is to execute PR activities and achieve cut through for my client across many platforms, to be achieved via a range of innovative PR initiatives and effective digital engagement strategies. It will involve direct participation and liaising with the senior management of each brand. The role is also responsible for working and contributing to project teams/campaigns and projects, including CSR, joint brand activities and corporate hospitality and event management.

KEY RESULT AREAS & ACTIVITIES PERFORMED:

Reporting to the Public Relations Manager, the Public Relations Executive will be tasked with helping to conceptualise, design and execute innovative media (primarily, but not limited to, social media) outreach brands. The role will also provide counsel in the digital media arena across several brands and actively seek opportunities to ensure a robust profile for all.

Media relations:

• Deliver all PR related activities in a timely, efficient and high quality manner, adhering to deadlines
• Achieve media results in key publications including communication of key messages
• Manage media relations activities including story pitching, feature submissions, news releases and one on one briefings
• Research, write and distribute media releases in accordance with established policies and procedures and maintain good relations with media
• Manage and update distribution lists
• Organise events, journalists familiarisations and special sponsorship projects in accordance with public relations strategies

Non-traditional media relations:

• Pro-actively work to build new relationships with influencers and regularly identify opportunities to secure exposure for brands
• Maintain and build upon the existing successful relationships with key travel, lifestyle and youth bloggers, social influencers and websites
• Work closely with brands to support and publicise presence in the social media space - Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest and Instagram
• Deliver quality online coverage to generate buzz, conversation and inbound links to brand websites
• Create innovative ideas/content to pitch to online outlets including but not limited to blogs. Optimise online content via SEO strategies
• Work with the brands to create and implement strategies and creative ideas to drive traffic and visitors to brand websites
• Ensure that all outreach is on-brand and effectively communicates key messages
• Stay current with new technology and trends in the PR and social media space

Additional:

• Regular compilation of reports and results
• Provide input to developing Public Relations strategies, policies and procedures
• Actively liaise with individual company marketing divisions with regard to promotions and giveaways
• TTC projects as required (including CSR, joint brand activities and corporate hospitality).
• Coordinate and assist with employee and internal communications
• Frequent and enthusiastic contributor to team meetings

EDUCATION:
• Communications degree and/or professional qualifications in marketing and/or communications preferable

EXPERIENCE:

• Essential – Extensive relevant practical experience in a commercial environment with exposure to communications
• Essential - Solid track record and proven results in the PR & digital media space

KNOWLEDGE:

Qualifications, Skills & Knowledge Requirements:

• Essential: Existing knowledge bank and contacts in this space – must have an excellent contact base for the Australian online media/influencers
• Essential: Experience & passion for engaging content, online communications, social media & marketing • Essential: Previous experience & enthusiasm about selling in ideas, whether it’s on the phone or face to face with a journalist, to a blogger over email or other online comms methods
• Essential: Proven online and social media skills. Must be able to provide evidence of social media experience and how you have utilised it to grow brand recognition
• Desirable: Experience working with sponsors, suppliers and partners collaboratively and with multiple stakeholders
• Desirable: A love of travel and passion for the travel and communications industries and an abundance of creativity
