Public Relations & Digital Marketing Specialist

Our client in the Financial Industry is looking for a Public Relations & Digital Marketing Specialist for a 12-month contract.

The Public Relations & Digital Marketing Specialist will perform various media relations and digital marketing activities to support the Public Relations team, while creating content for various digital and social media sites.

Primary Responsibilities:
• Collaborate with internal marketing communications and editorial teams to create press releases, talking points, pitches, articles, social media postings, briefing materials, and other media communications related to the financial industry.
• Prepare clear and compelling messages for key marketing materials that are aligned with Client branding.
• Monitor media coverage to track placements, identify possible risks, identify avenues for improvement, and help develop talking points.
• Develop and maintain relationships with print & digital media outlets.
• Handle incoming calls in a timely manner and provide clear, candid, and accurate statements and/or background information to the media.
• Develop and strengthens working relationships with members of the news media, as well as identify and cultivate new press contacts.
• Maintain regular contact with members of the news media via phone, e-mail, mailings, and face-to-face encounters and visits.
• Contribute to the development of monthly communications & reports.
• Interact on a regular basis with business clients, marketing partners, and senior staff to understand strategy, priorities, and positioning.
• Develop specific plans to obtain positive media coverage of broad corporate priorities or specific business and marketing initiatives.
• Develop content for social media and digital marketing channels on a variety of investment and financial planning topics.
• Help develop strategies, tactics, and programs to promote Company investment and wealth planning services.
• Plan and research story ideas to proactively pitch to media representatives.
• Keep abreast of media environment, industry trends, market activity, and regulatory changes and develop appropriate responses and materials in response.
• Arrange interviews with executives, thought leaders, and portfolio managers, and fully and properly prepare Client representative and media members for press engagements.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively and independently on multiple projects.
• Demonstrated ability to explain complex subject matter in plain English.
• Proficient in social media and dealing with business press.
• Demonstrated organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Demonstrated ability to work with various departments and levels of management including senior executives.
• Demonstrates effective and professional service orientation and builds rapport with internal and external contacts.
• Demonstrated ability to write quickly and meet deadlines.
• Willingness to “cover” corporate events outside usual business hours.
• Knowledge of financial services industry, particularly the wealth planning and investment markets.
• Requires undergraduate degree or equivalent experience. Degree in English, journalism, marketing, communication or public relations preferred. Graduate degree in communications or business preferred.
• Requires 5-10 years of PR and social media experience (financial services industry preferred); 5 years in public relations or related area performing similar responsibilities strongly preferred.
