Proposal Writer

An established private manufacturing and services company seeks a full time experienced proposal writer to help expand the Company’s portfolio of business. Customers are government agencies and acquired through sole-source contracts and competitive bidding opportunities. The proposal writer plays a critical role in the Company for acquiring business through competitive bidding opportunities. The primary responsibilities for the position are:

 Execute entire process of responding to solicitations - from receipt of solicitations through writing and editing proposals to printing/production and shipping of the final product.

 Write persuasive responses to specifications that position the Company as the most appropriate vendor.

 Write succinct responses that address the individual specifications without extraneous and/or tangentially-related information.

 Acquire and maintain knowledge of new/enhanced system functionality and weave it into responses for proposals.

 Ensure every proposal is compliant with the submission requirements listed in the solicitation, including completed forms, signatures as needed, additional documentation (e.g., annual report, marketing literature, etc.).

 Maintain and manage the Open Records process.

 Maintain data on competitor contracts, references and monitoring systems and distribute to

appropriate internal audiences.

 Available to work the hours needed to meet deadlines.

 Proactive: continually looks for ways to improve product and process.

 Successfully interact with team members, especially those in remote locations.

Required experience and skills

 B.A. in Journalism, English or Communication.

 At least four years directly involved with writing proposal content and the proposal’s production.

 Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail.

 Ability to successfully manage multiple proposals with due dates very close to each other at one time.

 Exceptional writing, proofing and editing skills and acquired the skills in a professional writing environment, such as grant writing or technical sales writing.

 MS Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel) and other appropriate software for developing effective and winning proposals.

 Turnkey experience with writing entire proposals, inputting edits after reviews are completed, completing required forms and securing needed signatures, printing and binding final versions of proposals and shipping.

 Able to work in an environment with a significant amount of ambiguity and rapid changes, which requires adapting to new approaches and ways of thinking.

 Expert usage of AP style when writing proposals.

 Exceptional verbal and written communication skills and thorough understanding of the best approach for communicating with others at all times.
