A proposal writer creates written documents used to convince a reader to do something specific. In business proposals, the goal is to convince a reader to enter into a business arrangement or buy services or products. A proposal writer must have excellent writing skills and be able to write in a detailed, factual and convincing manner.
This individual is responsible for:
? Primarily responsible for managing the overall development of the technical sections of proposals in response to RFPs and project deliverables
? Supporting the proposal manager in the development of technical Construction proposals for the oil and gas industry
? Interfacing with a wide range of personnel including operations managers, functional area managers, subject matter professionals, proposal managers, to facilitate the efficient and effective development of the proposal.
? Providing writing and editing for proposal efforts
Job Duties/Responsibilities (include, but are not limited to):
? Assists with the development of the proposals through writing, revising, and editing drafts including executive summaries, conclusions, and organization credentials as requested by the Proposal Manager.
? Meets proposal deadline by establishing priorities and target dates for information gathering, writing, review, and approval; coordinating requirements with contributors; contributing proposal status information to review meetings.
? Gathers proposal information by identifying sources of information; coordinating submissions and collections.
? Maintains quality results by using templates; following proposal-writing standards including readability, consistency, and tone; maintaining proposal support databases.
? Improves proposal-writing results by evaluating and re-designing processes, approach, coordination, and boilerplate; implementing changes.
Required Skills
? Bachelors degree in English, Business Communications, Journalism, Marketing
? Experience with desktop publishing, graphic design, production, and quality control for proposals
? A minimum of 7 years of technical writing and editing experience, preferably in a the Oil/Gas or Energy industries
? Knowledge of the procurement process
? Ability to successfully execute many complex tasks simultaneously, maintain professional attitude, and work as a team member, as well as independently
? Ability to work under tight time frames, including nights and weekends if necessary
? Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills to interact with all levels
? Strong attention to detail
? Good analytical and problem solving skills
? Strong proficiency in Microsoft suite
? Self-starter that is able to work under minimal supervision
