Proposal Writer

Responsibilities may include the following:

• Proposals and Business Development

o Prepare proposal and business development documents, including re-purposing existing content or drafting new content, working with senior team members on the strategic approach and arranging for timely delivery of materials.
o Liaise with graphic designer and other members of the proposal team
o Maintain RFP-related content and tracking tools

• Marketing and Communications Materials

o Write, edit and oversee the production of marketing and communications materials, including brochures, newsletters, lawyer biographies and web content
o Respond to individual requests from lawyers

• Projects

o Plan and manage marketing, communications and business development projects
o Research opportunities to implement communications best practices
o Coordinate corporate sponsorships

• Media Relations

o Lead the firm’s media relations initiatives
o Develop and maximize editorial opportunities for the firm
o Maintain and build on existing relationships and identify and establish new relationships with strategic publications and media personnel
o Maintain a tracking system for public and media relations’ information, including news coverage and appointment notices

• Internal Communications

o Draft communications to internal staff and lawyers

• General

o Assorted communications and administrative tasks, and other duties as required

• Post secondary degree, preferably in Communications, Marketing, Business or a discipline with significant writing requirements
• Minimum of five years’ experience in a marketing, communications or business development role, preferably in a professional services firm
• Superior writing, editing and communications skills
• Must demonstrate excellent copywriting, proofreading and editing capabilities
• Must have a high degree of poise and professionalism and be comfortable dealing with senior personnel in a tactful manner
• Self-starter with the ability to work independently as well as in a team
• Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize and meet deadlines
• Customer service mindset
• Detail oriented and able to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
• Excellent computer skills, including MS Office (Word, Excel and PowerPoint)
• Experience with InDesign and VutureFX is an asset
• Experience with and interest in social media is an asset
• Experience in public and media relations is an asset
• An understanding of website content management systems is an asset
• Ability to work overtime
