The Copy Editor/Proofreader manages consistent language across the many touch points that carry the message to the target audience. This position provides support to copy management to assure quality in creation of all packaging and collateral sales materials. The Copy Editor/Proofreader’s role, is responsible for the following:
• editing/implementation of changes
• proofreading existing materials for copy clarity and readability, trademarks, registration information, spelling, capitalization, format, branding, etc.
• proofreading against regulatory requirements/checklists
• proofreading prepress proofs and first article samples against approved proofs

The Copy Editor/Proofreader adds value to the organization by managing the consistent messaging and brand voice that is communicated across multiple touch-points and multiple markets resulting in a stronger emotional bond with our customers. This position is an individual contributor who will work with several key stakeholders throughout the organization.
The Copy Editor/Proofreader will work closely with the Copy Manager to ensure that the copy and tone of voice or each brand is in alignment with the overall creative strategy. They will work with the Sr. Global Content Manager to establish schedule and monitor deliverables. The Copy Manager will interface with Legal, Medical, Regulatory (LMR) to ensure that all language is accurate and in compliance with any and all government regulatory bodies.

The incumbent will:

• Be responsible for maintaining consistent implementation of the brand’s tone of voice. This position also manages the effective localization of the tone of voice for all regions where BDC operates.
• Support the Copy Manager in the creation of translations across all customer touchpoints.
• Be responsible for proofreading and editing all final English text for 510K and IVDD submittal.
• Be responsible for proofreading at all stages to assure quality of copy and content based on approved proofs and established requirements

The candidate will possess the following qualifications:
• 5-7 years experience as a editor or proofreader of copy in Advertising Agencies, Design Firms, Consumer Products companies, Pharmaceutical Companies, Medical Device groups.
• Bachelor’s Degree in liberal arts, English major is desirable, or Bachelor’s degree in science or medical technology.
• Healthcare/medical device experience, is a must for this position.
• Must be highly organized and be able to manage multiple projects at any given time.
• Technical expertise to comprehend and manage complex technical information (software, instrument, and reagent systems) and the technical writing skills to transform this information into accurate, understandable publications.
• A thorough working knowledge and understanding of the FDA regulations as they apply to the preparation, distribution, and control of product labeling for in vitro diagnostics products.
• Collaborative – someone who can work across teams and regions.
• Understanding of developing packaging, point of sale, promotional and other consumer materials across several brands/categories.
• Committed to excellence in every aspect of their work.
• Desire to work in an entrepreneurial, flexible, and fast-paced environment.

Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience in a government regulated industry is a plus.
• Microsoft Office, Adobe Creative Suite, File Maker Pro knowledge is a plus.
• Foreign language skills, experience working with translations is helpful.
