Our client is looking for a Proofreader. The ideal talent will be responsible for but not limited to:

Essential Functions:
• Ensure that communications, advertising, and promotional materials are free of omissions, errors, or inconsistencies in grammar, style, usage, and format.
• Read corrected copies or proofs in order to ensure that all necessary corrections have been made.
• Consult recognized reference books and style manuals to ensure consistency with rules of grammar, style, and usage.
• Keep abreast on all required disclaimers, footnotes, and legal copy.
• Confirm that revised materials are correct and changes have been made.
• Receive and review final printer proofs, verifying that the output is complete and accurate.
• Actively pursue creative growth and development through experience, exposure, and education.
• Provide functional consultation with creative teams and project partners (e.g. Brand Strategy, Integrated Marketing Communications Operations, Multimedia, Internet Services Group, Due Diligence, etc).
• Actively identify, recommend, and participate in development of improvements in workflow, processes, creative outcomes, etc.
• Contribute to internal department initiatives, including updating and creating processes, documentation, tools, etc.
• Build networks with peers, colleagues, and project partners through the collaboration and experience of project work.
• Ensuring the accuracy and completeness of materials that describe our legal and statutory obligations to members and groups, where misinformation or errors could cause financial liability for company.
• Maintains up-to-date knowledge of our brand and business strategy; our health care delivery system; the health insurance industry; principles of internal communication and change communication.
• Keep up with new trends in communications technology, including online and social media platforms.
• Manage writing and proofreading resources.
• Research copy, style, and brand issues.
• Maintain the department style guide and other editing resources.
• Act as a resource on brand tone and style questions within the region.
• Collaborate with peers to promote best practices and update procedures as necessary.
• Keep abreast of departmental and corporate standards; brand and business strategy; medical, dental, and occupational health products; service delivery processes and standards; advertising and marketing plans and objectives; regulatory and other third-party requirements; marketplace conditions; and consumer attitudes.
Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:
• Two (2) to three (3) years of experience proofreading for a variety of audiences, in a variety of media.
• Experience proofing for online and social media channels.
• Associate's degree in communications, journalism, creative writing or related field or an equivalent combination of knowledge and experience.
• Working knowledge of managed health care delivery systems and the major issues affecting the industry.
• Working knowledge of corporate brand standards, tone and style and their application in internal and external communication channels.
• Working knowledge of web-based communication and social media channels.
• Proven project management skills.
• Ability to maintain high productivity amid competing priorities and tight deadlines.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and serve as a consultant and resource to department clients.
• Demonstrated strong problem-solving, communication and critical thinking skills.
• Ability to ensure accuracy and consistency while working on multiple projects (on various topics).
• Ability to work both independently and in teams.
• Ability to make timely and effective decisions that produce results that are accurate, style-appropriate, and contain all required disclaimers, legal copy, and source references.

Preferred Qualifications:
• Four (4) to five (5) years of experience proofreading for a variety of audiences, in a variety of media preferred.
• Health care experience a plus, but not necessary.
• Bachelor's degree in communications, journalism, creative writing or related field or an equivalent combination of knowledge and job experience preferred.
• Excellent proofing skills preferred.
• Ability to proof in a wide variety of tones, formats and styles preferred.
• Comprehensive knowledge of standard principles of writing (usage, grammar, and syntax) and conventions of copywriting preferred.
• Working knowledge of health care industry preferred.
• Working knowledge of corporate brand standards and their application in internal and external communications preferred.
• Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office, Facebook, Twitter, Lotus Notes and some html experience preferred.
• Working knowledge of FileMaker Pro computerized database system (Protrack) preferred.
• Demonstrated ability to create diverse collateral for a variety of audiences preferred.
