Project Manager

Our client, a university in Boston, is hiring a Project Manager for a 1 1/2 month long contract (possibly longer). This role sits onsite and starts on 8/17 (ideally)

This candidate will support the branding initiatives of Boston University by leading and overseeing print and web projects in Creative Services, ranging from simple fliers to complete websites. Account Managers serve as primary liaison to clients, advising them on appropriate and cost-effective communications solutions; also maintaining positive communications by proactively anticipating and negotiating solutions to potential problems. In conjunction with other Creative Services (CS) staff, Account Managers also develop project specifications, schedules and budgets.

Responsibilities:

30% Project Leadership
Lead all assigned projects; ensure that CS is prepared, proactive, thorough and accurate throughout the duration of the project. Work with appropriate CS staff to provide detailed estimates to enable clients to meet their marketing objectives. When approved, ensure that project proceeds and delivers within budget, alerting clients when requests will incur additional costs. Collaborate with key CS staff to plan effective project teams. Collaborate with project team to plan project schedules, balancing CS workload/priorities with clients’ expectations. Work with Assistant Account Managers to ensure that all project milestones are on track; proactively communicate any deviations with clients. Lead appropriate client meetings from project planning through completion. When appropriate, involve relevant senior leadership in planning process and presentations.

30% Client Relationship Management
Earn and maintain clients’ respect and confidence that CS is a trusted resource for developing strategic integrated marketing strategies. Serve as their primary point-of-contact for initiatives developed by CS.
Anticipate and proactively manage clients’ expectations. Balance and manage clients’ needs with University priorities and CS workload. Serve as primary liaison to clients, maintaining communication via phone, e mail, and meetings to keep clients abreast of project status. Identify problems and negotiate solutions.

25% Strategic Planning
Guide clients through integrated strategic planning process for new projects. Help clients clearly establish objectives and priorities for initiatives. Work with clients and CS staff to develop thoughtful, realistic integrated communication strategies to meet their objectives. Identify key internal and external resources needed to execute desired strategies.

15% Administrative
Provide various reports of current and recurring projects to aid in planning current and future resources, priorities etc. Utilize project management system to account for all stages of projects. Work with appropriate CS staff to ensure that all projects are invoiced, billed and reconciled in a timely manner.


Required Skills and Qualifications:

B.A. /B.S.
3 to 5 years’ experience in production or pre-press for printing, publishing, or marketing communications.
Knowledge of print design process and requirements, as well as website design and development.
Strong understanding of marketing principles.
Demonstrated computer skills including word processing and spreadsheet functions.
Excellent organizational skills and the ability to juggle multiple tasks under deadline pressure. Maturity, diplomacy, and excellent interpersonal/communication skills.
Agency experience preferred.
Strong organizational and interpersonal skills and the ability to work well in a team atmosphere.
