Vitamin T is currently looking for a Technical Project Manager for our client in Detroit, MI. The ideal candidate can be located anywhere, but there may be travel required 2-3 days per week.

The Technical Project Manager is responsible for leading a team delivering Database projects to schedule, budget, quality and aligned with larger Program. The role requires a mastery of technical knowledge of project management inter-related process stages, i.e. initiate, plan, execute, monitor and control and close, and the supporting processes e.g. scope, cost, time, issue, risk, resource, communication, stakeholder management. The Project Manager must have excellent stakeholder relationship management skills to successfully lead and manage the project team and project stakeholders, and have expertise recognized and requested by customers.

Responsibilities:
• Lead & manage multiple database project teams in parallel; new database design/development, brand data migration/project management teams, and brand data centers.
• Understand data privacy requirements and ensure data compliance grounds up.
• Lead continuous database integration & deployment efforts in an approved upon methodology.
• Mastery of project management methodology, tools and templates (includes project planning, schedule development, scope management and cost management)
• Perform the relevant project management processes - i.e. initiate, plan, execute, monitor and control and close, and the supporting processes e.g. scope, cost, time, issue, risk, resource, communication, stakeholder management
• Plan the project based on a defined need - results in detailed scope/budget/schedule baseline
• Monitor and control the work to ensure that the project remains on track and in control
• Plan for and manage change
• Report on variances to the approved project baseline
• Close the project to formalize acceptance of the project result and release project resources
• Interface and communicate with project team, corporate team and brand stakeholders
• Perform gate reviews and quality assurance reviews with all aspects of IT organization and brand sponsors
• Lead project teams consisting of cross- functional, brand groups in US, directly supervise staff, assign responsibility to members and monitor progress
• Delivery of projects aligned to overall business and technology strategies and architectures
• Manage external contracts and suppliers where required
• Work within defined governance processes
• Ensure that quality project standards are met as prescribed by IT Services through the effective implementation or use of approved processes, methodologies and deliverables

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in a technical field and/or equivalent work experience
• Minimum of two years’ experience in implementation/consulting/project management
• Demonstrated ability to learn new concepts quickly
• Strong working knowledge of software and technology - specifically around web technology, FTP, database integration, and Excel a strong plus.
• Ability to confidently use knowledge and experience while consulting with clients on the best ways to meet their needs.
• Strong problem resolution skills - proven ability to engage and interact with internal teams to resolve client issues.
• Excellent organizational and time management skills
• Creativity and self-motivation
• Experience working with multiple project management teams to coordinate and control database conversion over a course of very complex projects
• Understanding of the organization and the strength, uniqueness, and power of each brand
• Positive relationship with each brand
• Familiarity with brand objectives, annual targets, and marketing initiatives
• Ability to draw insights across brands and facilitate cross-brand discussion on best practices
• Ability to work in unstructured situation
• Ability to work independently and in a team environment with aggressive timetables.
• Ability to understand how new application functionality needs impact the data model and manage the evolution of the data model to meet those needs
